When I saw the title ("Interactive Lightbulb Installation") I thought it was gonna be a roundabout way to get to a "how many engineers does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" joke.

come on guys! you could have lifted the ceiling and hidden the wires!

I guess it works, but it's really ugly to my eyes. Ribbon cables would have looked much better and they're not that more expensive... they would stack on ceiling better, you could use some double sided tape to make sure they stick to the wall (for the motion sensors)
And ribbon cables wouldn't coil up like network cables do, they don't have so many colors.. it would just look more professional.

I also see no reason why there's so many wires. Seriously... voltage, ground, SPI, led driver in each bulb to adjust brightness when it gets command through SPI? That's 4 wires which can be shared by all bulbs in a column or row.
