watch how i got my hair to the perfect shade of silver! i couldn't be happier with the results.
also, I now have a follow up video about FAQ's and upkeep advice down below! (:

@WHOAyouguys on Instagram

Here's a list of everything I used:
¤ Color fix by one n' only
¤ Prism lite blue by saloncare
¤ 40 and 20 vol. developers by saloncare (large bottles)
¤ Absolute perfection booster by ion color brilliance step 1
¤ Absolute perfection color sealer step 2 packet by ion color brilliance
¤ Color charm wella t14 toner
¤ Color charm wella 050 additive (2 of them)

*IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE*
I am not a professional, just doing what a professional recommended to me. This can be pretty damaging to your hair depending on the thickness and overall health of the hair prior to the process. It is important to know that if you are using color fix, it is solely for stripping out dye, not for lightening natural hair. For natural hair, you may need to bleach twice but not in the same day! It will take a little more time for you. Make sure your hair feels strong and smooth again before bleaching a second time. After that, continue the process after skipping the color fix step.

also, i toned for 20-30 min.

have fun!

As a hairstylist I am honestly impressed that finally someone on YouTube does the proper steps to bleaching and toning. Big thumbs up 👍

I just followed your 3 steps exactly as you said and my hair is the most beautiful silver/grey color I've ever seen. I also came from a natural dark brown but at 57 years old, I had a lot of drab looking greys mixed in. Thank you for this video. I would have never tried this otherwise :)

Thanks for celebrating grey. Helps us natural grey women. So glad my natural grey is coming in.

OMG I've struggled with $400 Color apts every three weeks, over processed hair and the invasion of more grey hair over time.  But no more thanks to you.  I carefully followed your directions and my hair turned out EXACTLY like yours!  So fabulous.  So thank you very much.

If anyone wants a much lighter shade of grey all you do is use a few cap fuels of the wella 050. She used the whole bottle resulting in dark grey. I use 4 capsules and it is light silver grey more pastel. Great job great video!

Thank you for this very precise tutorial!! I have NEVER done anything like this and begged my hairdresser to help me, but she would not. (after the process, I know why). I have over 50% white roots, and had brown black hair color that I no longer desired at all. Following the procedure, I started at Sally's. At this location they were not familiar with the process you suggested, but helped me locate the correct products. The only thing I did differently was use the ION Bright White Color creme to lift the pigment out of my hair, instead of smelling like ass, which would have really bothered my husband's allergies. Using the 40 developer, 1/2 the Step 1, 1/2 the step 2, two times, I lifted my color to yellow at the roots and quite a bit of orange all over the ends.

After watching your tutorial several more times, I noticed the the orange in your hair had no problem with the tonic of T14 and 050, so I decided against a third go with lightening and did the toner, using 4oz of 20, one bottle T14, one bottle of 050, 1/2 of step one and 1/2 of step 2. You worked it into dry hair, but I noted in another video that someone started with damp, towel dried hair. I decided to go with damp hair.

AMAZINGLY, the yellow/orange hair reacted so quickly to the cocktail recipe. I had bluing/graying happening so fast on one side, that I hurried to get to the other side to try to keep even. It didn't matter, as things to progressed, both sides evened out, and I have a deeper color of ash gray than you have. I'm really pleased as well.

Now I just wonder about the roots....I will have to figure that out in about 6 weeks, but I'm considering adding the 'clear' developer to lighten the 050, or only using 1/2 the bottle. I'd like to get a color closer to my roots.

Thank you again! This is a great how to video!

I sure wish we could post pics here. Just did this for my mom. She finally decided to go grey and we followed your steps and it turned out beautifully!! She was reddish-brown for years. We did do the bleaching twice, but her hair was ok because she’s never processed it other than coloring it dark. It’s just gorgeous now! Thanks so much for the tutorial!

I am SO glad I stumbled across this. I'm literally sitting outside my local Sally's right now and I thought 💭 let me scroll YT for some inspiration on how to get my daughter's hair the shade she wanted 💭 and THIS holy grail of tutorials popped up. She's is going to be happy to know momma's got this! 🙌 Thank you for the first few minutes where you went through each product thoroughly. I've got my list in hand and ready to buy some product! 🙌

Tired of dyeing roots, I asked a friend to do this on my hair. Other than just coloring our own hair, neither one of us had ever done this before. It came out beautifully! For the few questions I had only one of 3 Sally employees was no help at all. I was super impressed with the other two. They were kind, pleasant and willing to take their time with me with me and my questions. With you and Sally's, I am very happy!

Finally, Someone uses a proper color stripper prior to bleaching. I see even professional colorist just try to bleach the color out directly. Well done!

Love this! It turned out so gorgeous! Just a little tip for anyone who wants to use this toner and booster combo, if your hair is already pale blonde with no hints of yellow skip over the 20 vol and use 10 vol developer! Or if you’re maintaining this grey color use 10 vol to keep your hair from drying out! The 20 vol actually adds lifting power to the color which will eventually result in damage of the hair if over used 💕

I'm SCARED to death to do the same thing. I'm 57 with brown hair color. It has faded and now the grays are poking through. I look ridiculous. I LOVED your tutorial. You are not only adorable but I feel like I CAN do this. Thank you.

So glad I found this video, I've been thinking for a while now about dying my hair grey, and I have medium/dark brown hair! Glad to have found a video with someone starting with about the same color hair!

I'm 7 years late to this video. But I gotta say as someone that's not a professional but knows a great amount about coloring and bleaching because of personal trail and error plus working at Sally's about ten years ago. I just want to say you did an amazing job!

Oh WAO!! It came out so beautiful!!! Just so you know, my hubby wants me to do his hair in Silver and out of all the videos I've watched (Guy Tang's included) yours is the one I'm going with. Not only the color came out wonderful but also the things you used are more affordable and easily available for the typical member of humanity (like me and everybody else...) and quite honestly, it turned out salon quality look (maybe even better) It's very kind of you to share your knowledge after stumbling on your own mistakes (like we all do) and then kindly share the results when you finally got it right! Thank you so much!🥰🥰💖
