Hey Steve. This is a USA Select DK-1 in Ghost Flame finish. These were made up to around 2003 and came stock with either Seymour Duncan or EMG pickups. The truss rod cover is not original and can be found on eBay for $17.

I have a feeling the first guy that bought it figured out it wasn’t custom shop and returned it. Still a killer deal seeing as these went for around $2300 new over 20 years ago! Hope this helps, and rock on 🤘🏼

No, that cover is the third party cover. You can buy it on reverb.

I believe you found a real gem that needed some TLC which the first buyer did not want to invest in and so returned it.

Congrats on the DK1! I have had my 99’ DK2 in trans black since 2006. Has emg 81 and 2 emg sa’s. Plays like butter and always sounds great. I have owned a sl2 soloist and a king v, but the neck on my DK2 is still my fav. Having a large hand with short stubby fingers it really helps. I suspect yours will be a keeper as well, awesome!

Oh, back when Jackson came out and were a big deal, Jeff Beck was playing one, I picked up a lefty Jackson’s soloist, it was $2000, but it really nice guitar, after a couple years, I went back to playing my fenders partly because I like the more traditional look, I try to sell it around 1992, but the resale value is so poor I just kept it, put it away for about 10 years, after 10 years, I decided to pull it out, just to check it out, it’s been one of my main guitars ever since, plays, and sounds beautiful, stays in tune, great, I put an old Gibson pick up in the bridge, I love that guitar all over again

Not a custom Shop. These ghost flame DK's were a limited run much like the Wildcard Charvels.

Definitely not a custom shop but great for the price .take it apart to inspect all the parts to see if it is a true usa model

Not a custom shop, those were a factory run. Most likely had EMG’s.

$1, 399 wow! That’s a great price. I believe back in the 2000’s they were still custom painting guitars which adds a lot to the price. Vs today the paint process can be done a different and cheaper way.

Nice score and I really do like the BGF finish. Great to see older Jacksons on display, thanks for showing. Good match for your blue keyboard + mouse setup 😉
