An Era of Sustainable Tourism | Prerna Prasad | TEDxDMENoida

Ms. Prerna Prasad, the founder of Ecoplore talked about reducing the carbon emissions, putting emphasis on the statement, “Tourism adds 8% carbon to the world.” She started her career as a journalist, then became an activist, moved into politics, and now is an entrepreneur. She traveled to a location in Tamil Nadu and spent a month searching for five eco-friendly hotels. Her research revealed that eco hotels produce 9 kg of carbon dioxide per night, while luxury hotels produce 1000 kg of carbon dioxide per night and average hotels produce 75 kg of carbon dioxide per night. Her aim was to spread awareness amongst the travelers.
