Is Santa Claus Real?
Показать описание
"With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick!" -Clement Clarke Moore
Every year, on the 25th of December, good girls and boys around the world wake up fascinated (and more than a little excited) to find Christmas presents scattered beneath their Christmas trees. Some find additional goodies in their stockings or beneath the fireplace, all attributed to a mysterious gift-giver who calls himself "Santa Claus"... or "Saint Nick"... or "Kris Kringle"... or... "Old Man Frost"? ...Something's fishy about this globe-trotting saint. He's been giving presents to children for over 1,700 years now, and to this day, no one is quite sure how. This has led to endless questions about the magical man and his North Pole operation, but recently, the truth has gotten so muddled that certain people aren't sure if he exists at all! This time on The Imaginary Axis, we seek to put an answer to this riddle once and for all. Who is Santa Claus? Where did he come from? Is he a man or a myth? And most importantly, how does he manage to get presents to billions of children every year? Finding the truth will require detours through physics, history, and the very heart of Christmas itself, but rest assured there IS an answer. All those gifts have to come from somewhere.
