The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice Edition PS5 Review - A Pretty Frustrating Experience

Показать описание
In conclusion, The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice ends up being a half-baked package that doesn’t really justify its price tag. Whatever miniscule upgrades have been done to the experience don’t really amount to much in the grand scheme of things, and with performance issues galore - Spacer’s Choice isn’t the definitive edition of the game that it clearly wanted to be.

It’s an easy pass for those who have already played through the game and its DLCs. And those who haven’t played it, they might be better off sticking to other better games in the genre.

The DLCs aren't connected to the main story in any meaningful way? Murder on Eridanos may take a backseat to the main story directly, but Peril on Gorgon literally highlights the dark aspects of Adrena-Time and explains how the mauraders were created and widespread throughout the colony, all highlighting the themes and aspects of the primary story about corporate Board greed. Murder on Eridanos also enhances those themes as you unravel more of the whodunnit murder mystery, as you see another corporation's obsessiveness with its product and money over the wellbeing of the colonists.

This game wins in every way except one. I hated having to put my party members into armor and helmets that didn’t match their personalities, or even obfuscated the attire they already had. They all ended up looking like generic robots and it took away from the flavor, particularly when the dialogue and unique personalities from the party is so damn good

After years of moaning about the Bethesda Creation engine and the constant wining they should use Unreal, reviewers get Outer Worlds and moan that there is poor performance, bugs and that there is no seamless open world.

when i first played this i didnt really like it, but instead of thinking it will be “new vegas 2” like many old fans said it would be, i retried it and loved it, i had assumptions it was that not its own thing, after realizing it became one of my favorite games out there

03:41 a little occasional lag doesn't bother me, THIS is why I've bought the game today! The load times killed the fun of the original for me and to have a dedicated PS5 version with full support for its SSD is a game changer!

I never really liked this game. The first planet is fun. Then it gets really repetitive and your choices don't make much difference, and I used the same gun for the whole game. Everything in the game is there to give the illusion of an in-depth rpg. It was no challenge either. It was a linear shooter pretending to be fallout. It was an okay first attempt, but one of the most overrated games I'd ever played.

The biggest difference is in Cinematic Mode not Performance Mode. It has a significant visual overhaul in lighting and shadows that is not present in Performance Mode. But it takes away from the original’s more stylized look as it goes for realism. And while it is definitely a noticable visual change in Cinematic, not so much on Performance Mode, performance is still shaky (similar to Witcher 3’s upgrade), and it feels like Private Division (Obsidian didn’t work on this as this is 2K and PD’s thing as the publisher) just turned on some more advanced UE4 settings and called it a day. I’ve played both versions, XBox and PS5 and Series X’s version has noticably higher visuals, reflections, and other aspects with PS5 retaining a flatter look. So anyone that does want to pick this up and has a choice, I’d go with Series X to be honest. It is a welcome visual upgrade nonetheless and dips aren’t bad enough that VRR can’t smooth them out, but hopefully it gets a few patches and personally it’s been fun to revisit this one. Looking forward to Outer Worlds 2 though when they’ll finally have a real budget and resources. The first game was great, but you can tell was restrained. And I think they can do a lot with it in UE5 with time and money behind it. Still want MS to put them on New Vegas 2 though. Since we’re not getting another Fallout for what, like 15 - 20 years if it has to come after the next Elder Scrolls, so they should be capitalizing at least on spinoffs if not just put Obsidian on Fallout 5. This is why Microsoft has a lot of issues. They aren’t great at managing their studios. But, that is another topic entirely.

Have the performance issues been patched out since?

For anyone like me who dosnt want another review that is exactly the same as their other, skip to the last about minute mark to hear what you actually clicked the video for.

This game was a miss for me. It lacked a crucial charm that was somehow captured by their Fallout game. Likely due to too many streamlined elements and lackluster exploration.

Pretty comical, how polarizing this game is in these comments. There is no "in-between", gamers either Love it or Hate it. And BOTH extremes are adamant that the other side doesn't know their heads from their asses. Not sure what last game did this to fans... Maybe FO4? I'm expecting Starfield to pretty much have the same effect.

I loved the original game tbh, but seriously stay away from this version. On ps5 “performance” mode it struggles to make a solid 30 at times. Stay clear seriously.

The outer worlds, over hyped, terrible AI, lack luster story line, slow arse game play, zero replayability.

10/10, wouldn't recommend to anyone, even if it's a free copy.

Man this game sucks. I played it on games pass a few weeks ago and it just made me want to play fallout. I really hope they do better for “Avowed”

I'm playing it on PC and have had zero issues at all with the game so far. It runs buttery smooth on Ultra setting on my 12700K/3080 system. I did turn motion blur off because no one likes motion blur in anything but racing sims. Not sure why so many people are whining about the updated version.

Too me the older version looks cleaner as far as graphics goes vs the newer gen version
