Pete Seeger - God's Counting On Me, God's Counting On You (Sloop Mix) [feat. Lorre Wyatt & friends]

August 21, 2010 at 9 am Pete Seeger boarded the deck of the Sloop he had built in 1968 with his banjo in hand and ready to record the song he had just written with his long time friend Lorre Wyatt. Pete commissioned The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater to teach the Hudson Valley folks about the beauty of the river and the dangers of taking it for granted. The Clearwater sailed her maiden voyage in 1969 and three years later the Clean Water Act was passed.

Fast forward to 2010 when another body of water was in danger. Millions of barrels of crude oil had gushed into the Gulf of Mexico. Ready for action, some of the original Clearwater crew joined by new friends gathered aboard the now weathered Clearwater, armed with their weapons of choice: guitars, banjos and the power of a song.

I love that great and wonderful "king of folk" and wise man Pete Seeger. He was the hero of my live and accompanied me since I was 14 years old boy here in Germany until he died. We all in USA, Europe and all around this world lost one of the most wonderful Idols . But Pete Seeger will never die in our hearts. His voice, his songs and all he said will help our poor world to survive! We all miss you so! RIP!❤❤❤

I'm an atheist, but this song is very inspirational for me. Even with the state the world is in today, I still have hope for the future and hope for humanity.

Just learned this song while attending a zoom celebration of Pete Seeger's 100th birthday. Still to the point...and we still need to take action. So grateful for his life.

He always did. Just because a person believes in humanity, doesn't mean they can't believe in God. Not all people who love God are part of the religious right.

If you miss me at the back of the bus, come on over to the front of the bus... I'll be riding up there. Keep your eyes on the prize, hold on... It's a hard, hard rain gonna fall. But deep in my heart I do believe we shall overcome and live in peace some day. We are not afraid today. Hopin' well all pull through, me and you and all future generations.

Beatiful sentiment. Pete Seeger was at least 90 when he sang this.

So true! We are the solution! As the Bishop stated during the Royal Wedding address, the love that Jesus showed us to do would solve the problems of poverty in the world.

RIP Pete Seeger. You’ve been called Home, which is a testimony to the fact that God loves a little pickin’ too. Thanks for singing the truth.
