Continuity Mistakes in Disney Movies

Yessirree, it’s time to shut down some art with a little pickin’ and pedantry: that’s right, it’s continuity time, baybayyy! While basically all films contain all sorts of whoopsies and mistakes that might make the audience cringe, there is truly nothing worse than a break in continuity within the narrative as we (the audience) are forced to accept time and time again a disappearing rope a la Frozen or changing eye color a la The Lion King. It’s a horrific thing to witness: there you are, sittin’ in the theater like Nicole Kidman in that weird AMC commercial when BAM! Mrs. Otterton’s purse magically disappears between shots in Zootopia or Captain Hook’s hook – the most important part of his ENTIRE character, by the way – switches hands willy nilly. Sure, some might look at the self-repairing door knob in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as a harmless gaffe, but is it? Is it REALLY? Or, and just stay with me here, maybe it’s a mistake so egregious as to completely decimate any chance of the film serving any artistic value? Yeah, that seems about right. Anyway, something something Disney something something goofs something something watch this fun and lighthearted video or whatever. Pedantic Pete and his crack team of goofologists are here to tell you why The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, and Moana are all the same level of audience averse dreck thanks to small errors from the production team. It’s really hard-hitting stuff.

Do you think Disney will keep doing these errors in future animated movies?

“To make room for more Pitch Meetings?”

Ah, so they are aware we only watch for pitch meetings. But this was actually pretty good.

The biggest continuity error in this video is the narration credit going to a Michael Keene when the narrator calls himself Pedantic Pete multiple times. It's unsettling! How did they not catch it during editing?! 😁

Pedantic Pete, you forgot about the scene in Frozen, when Elsa is singing "Let it Go" and her ponytail "magically" goes through her shoulder. 😂🤣👸🏼☃

I found this funny. At first it can seem a little annoying, but once you accept the entire thing is sarcastic, it’s pretty great. I love that he says some of these classics are basically trash because of a meaningless continuity mistake.

Okay, I love this. These are the kind of movie facts I have annoyed my family with for ages. And, gotta say, they are legit wtf moments.

For Finding Nemo I thought you were gonna say the birds wing went through the glass

I don't want to be the person to say actually BUT, it's actually 6 fangirls as seen at 8:53. One in green, pink, blue, purple, a deeper blue, and another deeper pink. So it's a continuity error between three different shots. Where there are 5 at 8:52, 6 at 8:53, and then 4 leaving at 8:55.

The scene in Peter Pan has Hook’s hook switch places has two extremely easy and logical explanations. One being that the animators simply drew Hook’s hook in the wrong had, and the other theory is that when Hook was underwater with the crocodile, the animators accidentally drew him facing the wrong way, so rather than waste time redoing everything all because Hook was facing the wrong because animation takes time, Disney decided to flip simply flip the scene 180 degrees horizontally and speed it up hoping no one would notice Hook’s hand and hook switching places.

I actually found a video that believes that Turbo had actually hacked into King Candy and that thus his logo is meant to be there at the end of the film.

This video just missed the major error in the little mermaid dinner scene: Ariel had no crab on her plate before rescuing Sebastian. Why didn't they give her one?

Being pedantic is a sign of genius. That's my story. I'm sticking to it.
