Q? What is the physics of how this "moon" is circling the asteroid if the asteroid is traveling as well? I mean we would have to have this moon accelerating faster than the asteroid, and then decelerating as it circles it. How is this possible?

NASA could have picked a more useful mission. For example an array of small space probes placed in far away orbit with laser interferometers on them to detect their exact relative positions while hundreds/thousands of miles apart. This would detect small mass objects far away due to relative gravitational attraction.

Why instead of impact just carry a powerful laser beam we had and melt or destroy that metal asteroid or whatever composition asteroid have.
