Few million years later one of the fragments from this collision end up scratching a JWST like telescope in another solar system

plot twist, we knocked it INTO our trajectory, and we're all gonna die

And now we know, that they changed is orbit 3x more than they expected. Great job guys and gals👍

It’ll be ironic as hell one day when we’re doing this and tested on an astroid and we actually knock it into earths orbit

Nasa after successfully destroying a random meteorite with a 300million dollar space satellite

Wouldn't it be irony if they did this and that ultimately ends up being the astroid to destroy is grand lol

Space is water. That's why things act the way they do in space similar to deep in our waters here on earth. It isn't that its a vacuum what causes Space to be difficult. It is that every planet or maybe almost every planet idk but I know ours the moon the sun is surounded by so much water it's enough to submerge galaxies, multiple galaxies.

Changed it’s orbital period by 34 minutes…😮

On earth 6.8 million miles is a lot but in space it’s like a quark

It's hard to believe that such a small impact will make much difference!

It has happened and the results are far greater than they expected and people are trying to sell it as "we can do it!" when we really don't even know why we go the results we got. It will take months or years and more tests before we have even a half assed understanding.
But it is exciting, I'll give them that!

The effect was far greater than predicted. If I remember correctly it was like 3 times greater. Made a huge dust cloud as well. Which is great news. That means it won't take as long to move a hazardous asteroid as NASA thought before the Dart mission. We should have several purpose built satellites built and ready to launch quickly. But I'll bet it will take forever to happen.

We have like 6, 000 Nukes collecting dust. Send a few and get her done done… yeehaw!

Pointless. Those tiny asteroids aren't the problem!

Nasa probably melting astroids with military lasers. 😃

I can’t imagine a golf cart making any impact one one of those massive blocks on the base of the Great Pyramid.

No. They screwed up!!! Aimed for 1 inch nudge. Got a 32 inch change AND an acceleration!!
