I retired from the service and I used to suggest it to people as a great opportunity.. I just can't do that anymore.. I refuse to encourage people to enlist in a unrecognizable military that I wouldn't enlist in myself anymore.. it's sad really

My dad is a 27 year (now retired) Navy veteran. Following in his footsteps and joining the Navy was a consideration of mine for a while, in past years. Even tho I ultimately didn't, 10-20 years ago, I would have gladly taken up arms to defend my country if needed, drafted, etc.

No more. I would not go to war for this banana republic, corrupt, sexually-deviant, formerly-great country in it's current state. They're falling short of their recruitment numbers because they deserve it ☹

All of the military branches often make certain jokes about each other. Weird to see the Navy embracing the common jokes about them.

As a Navy veteran, I'm appalled! If we ever have to engage in a major war; we're in serious trouble. When I was active duty, this guy would be called out and would be given an "attitude adjustment"

Supervisor- “No. it’s because you are the junior Sailor. We all did it. We all contribute.”

Supervisor “Seaman Woke, I need you to go above deck and get that inventory finished before you go home.”
Seaman Woke - “Firstly, I don’t like you calling me Seaman. It’s offensive. I want you to call me SeaThem.”
Supervisor - “Seaman is literally inclusively to everyone E3 and below in the Navy.”

This hurts. I'm a former deputy in good standing and always stayed in good shape. The army acted like I was stupid for even asking about joining because I was one year past the age limit. Now I'm glad they brushed me off

The Navy wants brave recruits. Now they get brave and stunning. As someone who's attended plenty of 'mandatory fun' events...this photo 100% percent looks like a bunch of guys were required to attend this show so PAO could get photos.

I tried to join the military in 2007... I couldn't get in because I got a ticket for paraphernalia (rolling papers).... crazy to think about now ...

Ian was spot on. I was one of those who was a career Marine Infantryman and basically forced retired while pending legal action pending if they were going to approve my COVID exemption or not. I'm a Purple Heart recipient from Fallujah, had several deployments to combat and other areas, was the Chief Instructor at the west coast Infantry Squad Leader course and my whole career came down to being expendable for common sense. I was essentially discarded. I'm retired, but I tell everyone I know to steer clear of military service because of how quickly they'll get rid of you over trivial reasons (or let you be killed out of fear like my brothers and sisters during the Afghan evacuations). There's an entire generation of us GWOT veterans that are pissed with several decades of combat experience. We're not the demographic to try.
