3 years clean, expecting my first child with the girl of my dreams. It was not easy and I thank the heavens for music like this that heals and inspires growth.
To anyone else seeing this right now remember that the sun only sets to rise again. Bless you Mt Joy

This is the kind of song that you listen to at night. You're driving home from a long day at work. You pull up and yet you don't get out of the car until the song is finished. You just let it hit you.

My husband tried to kill himself from his battles with trauma / addiction. He's now working as a harm reductionist for a non-profit and has been in recovery for over a year. He listens to this song every morning as it he says it, "helps him stop seeking and focus on family" Thank you for making this music that fuels our family. I'd be lost without him and so would our son. <3

I didn’t know this song was about addiction. I just played the video for the first time in front of my family after dinner. I lost it when he pulled out that key tag. We lost my big bro over a year ago before i got clean. When i hear "My brother let the heart still beat" i can hear my brother saying it. I love you Mitchell and I miss you every day. I live for both of us now.

My husband recently died of an overdose.. He joined the army, cleaned up his life & that’s when I met him. He shared with me the struggle he had in the past with drugs after his mother died, & his drug use was in the past. He fell back in on Sunday, out of the blue & it killed him.. “tell the ones you love you love them” I love you, Chris.

As someone who just completed residential treatment for addiction, this song hits differently. My next tattoo is "Let the music play you through the pain"

My oldest brother Manny died from an overdose two weeks ago, he’s the third brother I lost in the last decade to substance abuse. I didn’t know it was about addiction until I saw this video. And it’s hitting me in a way I didn’t know it would.

sometimes you don't know what your feeling, until you feel a song that hits you like this.

Putting the pieces back together in my life after my addictive years is the hardest thing I have ever done. Just try your best and stay sober. That's all we can do.

I found this song on some Netflix movie about a couple people riding bikes down precarious mountains. I turned it on because I thought John might like it. We were together for 25 years and he was dying from lung cancer. I was holding his hand. I played it all day every day after he died. That was 3 months ago. Getting hard to listen to it now. Thank you for this song.

I have listened to this album every day for months. It truly is amazing. Every single song has been my favorite at some point. This band is incredibly underrated. I love everything about them.

After loving this song for years, playing it on guitar and singing it almost daily, and it living rent free in my head i decided to watch the music video finally. I know I’m late to the game coming here, but holy sh*t this video hits home. I lost my best friend almost 2 years ago. I felt like i literally have lived these scenes to a tee. It brings back memories. It takes strength to overcome those low points. Tell the ones you love you love them. None of us make it out alive, we just have to learn to enjoy the ride with those who are still here. Have a blessed day y’all

This song breaks me down every time. My sister past from an overdose and we decided this should be played at her funeral. Such a beautiful person lost to such an awful disease. I love you Taylor. I wish you were here to see your nephew grow into the little man we knew he would be. I’ll always have that part of me that you took with you that day. All the family say they have dreams that you came to visit them in. I just wish I could get a visit, a sign or anything that your still waiting on us or something. Save us a place up there next to you. I love you sis.

Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line
Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line
My brother, let the heart just beat
Drink your wine, smoke your weed
My brother, let the heart still beat
And wear your silver lining
Wear it close to your skin
But if it's the drugs, the women, the wine, the weed
The love that took everything I own
Just take it oh oh oh
And tell the ones you love you love them
And teach only what you know, and oh
You better know it well
We drove from coast to coast
Down in New Orleans
Where the levees broke
You were tripping
I was driving
You were running
I was hiding
And you know I know how that feels
Don't get cheated kid
Just sweep from your heels
And if you get carried away
Let the music play you through the pain
And wear that silver lining
Wear it close to your skin
But if it's the drugs, the women, the wine, the weed
The love that took everything I own
Just take it oh oh oh
And tell the ones you love you love them
Teach only what you know, and oh
You better know it well
Up on the mountain
Caught on the red light
Up on the mountain
Caught on the rail line

Speaks to me, as a man with addiction and depression. When I ended up in the hospital, the friends who were there for me like nothing was different.

Everyone has their own connection to music, and for this one - whether it's dealing with addiction, rehabilitation, mental health (or whatever else it may be) this song is extremely relatable for anyone who has a lot of hardships they're still working on getting over and through. The message in the video that shows a lot of days you might not feel like you're cut out for the world around you or you're not going to make it has that message to take it ONE DAY AT A TIME. Know that it's okay to lean on the people that care and those who you can let down those walls around.
