I really like these. I do agree the weird cable cutting bump area gets in the way and you have to force them open to cut romex but when you get a round cable in there to cut you understand why they are shaped like that. Cut thick cable and MC like butter. I think they could be engineered a bit different to have that cutting area open more but opening them like linemans with your pinky is easy once you're used to it.

I currently don't own these but am planning to get em or sum similar. You're right and I agree with you, they do need to open up quite far to use the cutters, further than most. However.. I imagine this is one of the main reasons the spring assisted opening is standard on this particular model, yea?

They open way wider then that. If I can fit mc you can fit any standard wire. With every ergonomic attribute they added to this stripper, you’re complaining about not being able to pull the handles farther apart? Maybe you just have small hands

I use them everyday. Ill agree with you it's kinda a pain, I put up with the annoyance of it for the sheer multi-use power of this tool. I can carry this around and I don't have to carry like three other tools. And I just learned today those cutters cut aircraft cable cleaner and without any fraying than any of my tools. It comes in handy

I bought one pair of Knipex.
After using them for one day I started to replace all my others.
That was a good choice for me.
I even bought a 5-6 tool set for my son.

My biggest gripe is why they didnt add cross hatching to the grippers. Not a fan of the parallel teeth. Other than that, theyre a fine tool.

Greatest pair of strippers honestly, yea you gotta open the jaws up but the cutting power that these provide are just on a different level compared to any other cutter on a hybrid set of strippers. The jaws are solid as hell with the flat lineman’s style up top, a wire notch, and a more open round fastener grip. The strippers themselves have huge indexing areas which seems odd at first but the second you clamp down that jacket pops right off. I understand In this particular scenario and setting (in a tighter area with not much play) maybe they aren’t the most ideal tool for that specific task but these are some of the best strippers out for sure.

of all the things to criticize, you picked the cutters? Just choke up on the handles if you have small hands. The only bad thing about these is the fact that if you don't oil them almost daily they'll rust faster than a mid 90s mustang.
