I explore the Bogor Botanical garden in this episode, sharing with you my preconceptions about this place, and the very mixed feelings I have as I explore this massive garden. We run into some species in different agroclimates so there’s some new discoveries to be found here. There were a few disappointments throughout the experience, which I wasn’t shy about sharing. This is in hope that they can get an honest review and strive to improve (if they are even willing to).

This garden used to be my favorite escape during my uni time in Depok. and i can tell that it has seen much better days. I still remember how good and well maintained the plants inside the glass houses were. It’s probably the funding issue during pandemic, or simply another classic case of mismanagement 🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you Sean. I’m sorry you were disappointed, I on the other hand saw some really beautiful plants. It’s always interesting to see what’s able to grow outside in different areas. I have to keep all of my treasures indoors until summer rolls around. Thank you again! 🌷🙃💚

Even in gardens that have fallen into a state of neglect there are often a few spectacular specimens or hidden gems to be found.

Looks like a nice place to go to get out of the city like you said. Still some interesting plants and nicely planted areas. I understand your disappointment with all the closed greenhouses; me too!

I used to explore the left side area (from main gate -gate #1) where the old graveyard located and nice cafe over the bushy bamboo tree (the Melchior). Up to the pond that we can see Balai Kirti of Bogor Presidential Palace. Usually they have Amorphophallus overthere and become the attraction if blooming, around Lady Raffles memorial statue. The right side towards to gate#3 (over taman Mexico etc) indeed the more popular area for picnicking, team gathering, or even arisan (i dont know english term of it - ladies gambling event? wkwkwwkk). Normally massive crowds and I only went there during the workday when vehicle allowed to enter. Really appreciated your effort on this, I think you've walking more than 5km during filming this video. But please dont gave up, try to overnight in the garden and explore in the evening to get different sensation.

i love watching your videos specialy those propagating vids with updates how the plant grow after a few weeks or month. wish you can make a video of plant diseases specially in philos and also about fertilizer. how to tell what is the missing nutrient the plant need.

Salacca affinis aka Salak hutan. Snakefruit/salak that we usually eat is kultivar of Salacca zalacca.

Unfortunately the nepenthes greenhouse closed, I think a few months ago there was an improvement because a lot of plants are died. I got the news from Indonesian Nepenthes community .

Wow, thank you for the tour. I've been here multiple times, but never visited most of the places you went. I thought it was just a nice park to walk around (with a lot of "closed" signs) 😅 Hopefully they can improved it because people pay a lot of money for the entry fee.

Hi! I have a question about my philodendron Gloriosum. I have planted it in a rectangular pot so it can crawl, it is growing well, except that it is crawling across the narrow part of the rectangle not across the length of the rectangle! The new leaf spike is hard up against the edge of the box! Shall I repot and send it in the right direction across the length of the pot? Thank you for taking us on the tour. I love this channel 😊👏👏👏👏🌱🇳🇿

Hey Only Plants, I really enjoy your videos. I'm an immigrant bule living in Wonosobo with my Javanese istri. To my shame I don't speak the language and therefore I enjoy your enthusiasm about horticulture in Indonesia videos in English. I know you're more of a houseplant aficionado where I am more of an outdoor gardener. I have enjoyed all your videos especially the one where you visited a garden and nursery in the highlands of eastern Java. As a fan i have two questions: 1) Where in Indonesia or better yet Jakarta, can i find a good selection of bromeliads? 2) In your horticultural

What an amazing garden park. Hope they develop it more cause it seems to me that there are areas that are taken for granted. That security guard better know who you are… hehehe
