The best dog i ever had was from a shelter. He only cost us £100. He was a chocolate lab x. That dog was insanely smart, and he was more like a little brother than a pet. He was a proper family member.
One of my sisters has a frenchie. He's a lovely little dog, but he's naughty at times. He can't be around other dogs when outside. He's also costing her a small fortune in pet food, pet insurance and vet fees. She also has to be ridiculously strict with his diet otherwise he has really bad allergies. I never had problems with my old dog. We did give him normal dog food from a supermarket, but he mostly ate what we ate. I even used to give him stuff from McDonald's and other fast food places. That dog lived until he was a good 15. Not many labs with good diets make it past 12/13, and we spoilt that dog rotten with all kinds of food. He ate better than most people. We used to run a guesthouse, and that dog always had a cooked breakfast. The breakfast chef was always giving him sausages and bacon. If my sisters dog either had a tiny bit of bacon or a sausage, it would result in a trip to the vets. Frenchies are lovely dogs, but they're harder to look after and way more expensive. Theyre so prone to allergies. You'd think the costs stop onceyouve bought one, but thats only the beginning.
