NASA chief on America's next moon mission, future of space exploration

NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine told a senate panel Wednesday that freezing the agency's funds would be "devastating" to plans for future space exploration. The Trump administration wants NASA to return astronauts to the moon by 2024. Bridenstine joined CBSN to talk about what lies ahead for the U.S. space program.

We need to practice on the Moon setting up a lunar base and adding to it expandable habitats and labs so that when we go to Mars we can have 10 or 25 buildings already their for us to use and we can stock it with all kinds of EQ and Materials for truly long term use and perform manned and un-manned experiments and missions. We need to grow our own food their and harvest water and also be able to move these bases around as needed. Once our people are their they can survive months or even years if necessary. Lots of robots to help our people and lots of redundant systems.
