2016 Hyundai Genesis | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader

The original Hyundai Genesis sedan was a big deal because it was Hyundai's first luxury sedan, and it turned out to be a pretty good first entry into the segment for the automaker. Now in its second generation, the Genesis isn't just impressive for a Hyundai -- it's competitive with some of the best luxury sedans in the world. Here are five reasons to check out the 2016 Hyundai Genesis.
Two Great Engines
The engine that gets all the headlines is the sweet 5.0-liter V8. With 420 horsepower, the Genesis 5.0 is almost as powerful as a Ford Mustang GT, yet it's as silky-smooth as a Lexus. It's so refined, in fact, that you would never guess it had that much power. But when you stomp on it, you'll be amazed by what it has in reserve. The base 3.8-liter V6 makes 311 hp, has available all-wheel drive and gets 29 miles per gallon on the highway versus 23 mpg with the V8.
Executive-Class Styling
The original Genesis almost looked like a mix of midsize luxury sedans, but today's Genesis is a true executive sedan. From the proud, upright grille to the strong character line down the side and the sharp LED taillights, it's clear that this Genesis is aiming for the top. Compared to other executive sedans, just about the only thing missing is the massive price tag.
Sophisticated Ride and Handling
The Genesis rides smoothly on any road, with a sense of isolation that's common with high-end luxury cars. What's less expected is its responsive handling. Thanks to input from the chassis wizards at Lotus, the current Genesis is much sportier than it used to be, with a precise steering system that's easily Hyundai's best ever. It's genuinely fun to drive.
Top-Quality Interior
Inside, the Genesis keeps on winning. The dashboard looks like something you would find in a BMW or Lexus, except it has straightforward controls that are easy to use. The materials are also great, and the infotainment screen is both attractive and user-friendly. You can even get adaptive cruise control with lane-keep assist, as well as other top-of-the-line features.
Full-Size Accommodations
Although the Genesis is priced like a midsize luxury sedan, it's actually a full-size model with a huge back seat that makes the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class seem small. It's like getting a Lexus LS for thousands of dollars less. When you compare the Genesis 5.0 to the Lexus LS 460, it's hard to see where the Hyundai comes up short -- it just doesn't cost as much, and that's real luxury.
Autotrader Says
The 2016 Hyundai Genesis is a great luxury sedan that anyone would enjoy driving. Take a spin to see for yourself.

Maybe the MPGs aren’t that great but it uses Regular gas.

I just want to thank all the status seeking badge lovers who will forever dog Hyundai and ignore their obvious progress. Someone's gotta pay tens of thousands more.... and that somebody is you! Thanks again and pls continue dissing Hyundai; it keeps the price down.

This thing's offered in the UK, but unfortunately I just don't see the appeal.
It's expensive, at least for a Hyundai, not particularly fast (we only get the non-sport 304bhp RWD model, with a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds), and I'm shocked by its terrible fuel economy, and the fact its emissions mean tax for the first year is £2, 000 ($2, 670 USD)
Comparing that to a _cheaper_ Infiniti Q70 3.5 Hybrid Premium Tech, with a 0-60 time of 5.3 seconds, far better fuel economy, and tax for the first year of only £190 ($253 USD), it's a no-brainer!
