Yet more footage from the Headsets round-up. Not sure why I filmed this in the first place. But here it is anyway!

I pissed my pants when he said "You can also use it to Skype your grandma after she's gone."

I believe that hissing sound is active noise isolation. Some headsets produce a sound to mute out whatever is happening on the outside world. Like nuclear weapons going off outside your window.

With the beep it's the treble from the headset, with some of the newer headsets done by Turtlebeach they actually let you change the treble but sometimes the noise may stay

From my experience the beep is due to either a badly soldered microphone cable or the cable itself has internal damage, a couple of my previous headsets have done that most notably the ones the dog attempted to chew the cable on when he was small.

The noise is the Amp inside, to counter it, turn up the volume on your pc to max, and adjust the volume via the in-line volume meter. I have some X12s (the reason the x11s were discontinued is that they were replaced) which has the same hiss, but it's more subdued.

x12 and the old x1 (which is more like the current x12) come with a velcro strap that's sewn around the cable so you don't lose it and can slide it wherever on the cable you want it. super handy.

that can be caused by the connection to the controller that has some noise to it and also the circuits on the board are as well shielded as they could be. you might also have some of your wires running close to other power cord which will add more interference, if you can here it while game noises are on then you have short somewhere.

Listening to this through a pair of these. I had the same problem with the hiss and the beep about a year ago and it went away on it's own. Not sure what that was about. As for the wire I use a bread tie to keep it in line. Good headset, would recommend if they still sold them.

I guess the hissing/buzzing is to do with the power supply from the USB port being a bit unstable - without any kind of slew limiting on that power supply it can cause noise.

the beep's if they're connected badly to xbox, and the hissing is only problem if worn without any audio through them, the hissing is louder with volume, but get used to it after a while(very comfortable, are perfect for 5+ hours straight wearing, also the vsound quality, aforementioned comfort and general well-made-ness more tthan make up for their downfalls, and i wish they were not discontinued, as when mine eventually brek(been going strong 3 years or so), i will have to buy newer versions

That noise your hearing is noise form the switch mode power supply in your computer, where the device is sharing a ground connection with the computer, all computers and laptops have this power supply.
Gone are the days of the NES with the transformer plug pack.
Unfortunately unless you use a ground loop isolator your not going to get rid of it, it is a horrible noise.
but if you can hear it loud they must have a really rubbish noise to signal ratio, probably why they were discontinued, maybe?

I have had the X11s for a year now, and I've never had that problem with the mic. The quality is really good too.

2 months ago that feature didn't exist.

I get the hiss from mine too. For me at least, it happens when I have the controller plugged into the Xbox with the Play and Charge, but it goes away when if I unplug the mic too... which kind of makes having a headset useless.

I have X12's, the price was about $90AUD (around £40-45) ITS EXCELLENT

I know what you mean, the X12's seemed to have fixed this problem. They do have a hiss, but when you turn of the mic the hiss goes away. As for the X11's the hiss is constent, but ingornaable when you are screaming at your TV. But I had the X11's hooked up to my Mac for a little bit, and the hiss was so annoying.

@Morne555 that "beeep" is not really ground noise... its generated by the HDD...it's a damn annoying thing but we have to live with it untill SSD drives are still expensive and cannot provide the same ammount of space like a normal HDD (1-2TB of space)

I still use my pair of the X11's and I have them hooked up in such a way that everything hooked up to my TV will output to them and the TV powers the headset. I love it

You need to either turn the mic off or to disable the microphone playback on your computer to stop the background noise

The problem with using full headphones on XBox Live is that they usually make a point of adding sound insulation to the earpieces so you can't actually hear the flipping game at all.
