New brush fire erupts in Sepulveda Pass along 405 Freeway

Really great coordinated effort from the firefighters and the helicopter pilots. This was fascinating to watch. So glad they were able to get the bulk of the fire so quickly.

I can see this fire from the rooftop of the building from where I work in Westwood. I can no longer see the flames at this point so it must be progress at containing it.

In 2018, the same location, Sepulveda Pass/405 Freeway, had a blazing fire for a few days, and before the road closures, thousands of drivers went up and down to get to work, myself included. It truly looked and felt like Armageddon. Much praise goes to the firefighters.

If there's anything I've learnt from bushfires here in Australia, , and I've learnt alot, , 1 very important thing is that if the wind is pushing uphill and blowing very hard, , fire will actually go down hill and sideways on a ley facing hill and it can go pretty quickly at that, , it's due to the air being pushed over the crest of the hill and that air falling down quickly, , it ends up circulating, , so like when the air moves over your car, , once it comes off your car it starts to twirl, , it's rare and requires the perfect conditions but it's just something to keep in mind, , it's not always safe on that ley facing hill
