This entire direct was like the “they would never do it” best hits

Honestly, its kinda hilarious that people are pissed that there's no new mario kart game when they're adding more than an entire new game's worth of tracks

Mario Kart DLC sounds like a royal way of “ending” the series. A next Mario Kart will probably be NEW new. Like the way BOTW was NEW new.

To be fair, they did preface this direct by stating they would cover releases from the first half of 2022
Most of those games you mentioned at the end are still a long ways off

The second nintendo announced the direct would focus only on games coming out soon I immediately put my expectations in check. That being said, I am so hyped for Strikers, the new Wii Sports, and MK8 DLC!

Nintendo Directs usually have a lot of stuff, most of them I'm not too into, but this one was absolutely perfect for me, from the next Xenoblade installment in the series, the first Mario Strikers game in a literal decade, and mf Wii Sports, this direct was just hit after hit for me.

And though a Three Hoises Warriors spinoff and MK8 DLC leaves me with mixed feelings as a fan of both, I can't say I'm not interested in them either.

I think this was EXACTLY what the Switch needed at this point, and brought life to franchises that were dying a death like Wii Sports, Mario Kart and so on… all of which continue to sell hardware and software alike. Very smart moves from Nintendo.

As a JRPG fan that was the best Direct I’ve ever seen.

I prefer the DLC update for Mario Kart. I get annoyed when a company releases a new game every other year that just has a few new maps. I think the DLC option is amazing- instead of forcing people to buy a new game, they can pay a small amount for new stuff while not losing the old stuff.
Plus, the game obviously has a huge active fan base that plays, so why split the player base between two games when they can make everyone in the base happy.

First mistake was having expectations with a Nintendo Direct. Personally, this is my favorite Direct in years.

“Is this what we needed right now?”
Considering a lot of talk in the game world has been centered around Facebook and their VR plans, cryptocurrency, company acquisitions, digital tokens you can’t actually own, and whatever the crap the Intellivision Amico is, the answer is a resounding yes.
What does the game world need? GAMES. And there are plenty on display that look very, very good.

I'm hype on XC3! I hadn't even heard rumors of a new Xenoblade. So it was a shock. And it looks really cool.

It definitely felt embarrasing to hear people complain that there was no breath of the wild in the chat during the direct when it said it was focusing on games that will be releasing in the first half of 2022?

People don’t realize that Nintendo specifically mentioned this direct was mainly for games coming in the FIRST HALF of 2022. So in a way you could say it kinda solidified games like bayonetta and botw for the later half.

Direct is not for everyone BUT this one is for me. I loved it.

Couldn’t be happier with the Mariokart announcement. The formula has been perfected by MK8. I fear Nintendo tampering with these mechanics in a new game. You’re telling me I’m about to get 48 tracks for one of my all time favorite games and I don’t even have to pay money for it because I’m a premium subscriber? Dude, count me in.

Honestly, it all depends on how much your expectations are aligned with reality. Nintendo Directs are not like Sony or Microsoft’s shows that reveal alpha footage or games 1 or 2 years in advance. Directs reveal what is coming soon and maybe something a little bit after. In reality this Direct and the one during E3, I would think, make one big presentation for the year. So for the first half of this year I want Mario Strikers and play some Mario Kart 8 courses. For the next half of this year, I only know I want Xenoblade 3 an I am still blind at what Nintendo has in store for us. With the backlog I have, I am more than happy with what was shown.

I think that adding courses to MK8 was a better move than making a MK9. keeps the game accessible and if they aren't adding any drastic changes, just make more maps. I was also hoping for a NG+ option for Metroid Dread for replayability

I came into this direct with literally no expectations. I was already satisfied from last years E3 direct and even the September one. So this direct could've announced anything and I'd be excited. And I was. Mario strikers and switch sports are a massive win in my book. Mario kart dlc was weird at first but considering the fact that Mario kart 8 has sold 50 million copies on switch we should've expected DLC. So I'm happy we are finally getting something "new" to all be it 4 years too late. And even tho FEW and XC3 aren't for me, I'm happy that it's here on switch for those who do like them. Nintendo stated this direct was only first half of 2022, which means "E3's" direct is gonna come full circle and should satisfy everybody who didn't like this one.
TLDR: people have their own preferences/opinions so just let people enjoy things or be disappointed by things.

I think for most of us it was a great direct. Especially remembering they specifically said only games coming out soon. Which means everything up until around E3. Just keeping expectations in check is going to keep ya from being bummed they didn't mention things you're looking forward to. Anyhow, we know E3 is probably going to be dope so we can probably up our expectations there.
