The former CFO of PMPED, the law firm Alex Murdaugh was formerly involved with, detailed how she confronted the disgraced lawyer over missing money prior to the murders of his wife and son. Jeannie Seckinger testified that Murdaugh resigned from the firm after he was confronted with proof the funds were misappropriated.

I am a retired CFO myself and it is hard for me to believe this fraud could be carried out for this many years without a formal trust audit or certain internal audit procedures catching on to the scheme. My guess is that he only defrauded his clients and probably told them their cases were not successful or were still pending, so that the client did not know there was a settlement or if they had questions, they still called Alex. Still, a formal audit would normally include mailed requests (sample of disbursements) for confirmation and you would think at least one person would sound off. This CFO was a great witness.

This case gets wilder and wilder. The hole Mr. Murdaugh has dug himself is so deep, regardless of whether or not he's found guilty of murder.

I work at a law firm and our trust accounts are audited at least every 5 years if not more. How did he get away with all of this!

I cannot fathom stealing all that money from people who truly deserved and needed those funds - it’s mind blowing how soulless he is!

i like how he tried to stare her down early on, but she wasn't intimidated in the slightest, murdoch then becomes more resigned with each document.

Where was the law firm when all of this was going on? They violated so many RPC’s for years, but never caught on to the scheme until an expenses check came in? And they haven’t been sanctioned?Wow!

How many other law firms are "unaware" of criminal activity by their members and partners?

I really like this judge. Not playing to the camera, and, doesn't have to be the show. Authoritative, logical, laidback. No temper or power trip. Trial can just flow.

Why on earth would they NOT let the jury see this? Judicial system blows my mind.

This guy is a real life villian. Sociopathic and greedy

If this was so easy all these years for this firm not to be found out, it makes me think these shenanigans go on more often than not in law firms everywhere.

Law firms should be audited on an annual basis by an outside authority

I think every client of this firm needs to check now whether they got paid correctly, have their trust accounts checked to make sure nothing was taken out that wasn’t meant to be. It’s BAD!!!

That soulless sociopath should never see the outside of a prison cell again. In some corner of his perverse mind he must think he can still get away with all his crimes and be somehow acquitted.

This goes on more than you know. Even big law firms that are on national tv steal big money from their clients.

I don't see how an "honest" law firm could let this go on for many years. They just started correcting things when the media started checking things. They had to have had clients complaining. My opinion is that the entire Murdaugh family is an example of corruption at the worst. It's hard to believe they didn't know what was going on until the light was put on it. They just threw Alex to the wolves, and he did deserve it, but I'd like to see the entire firm audited and not by a relative.
