This year’s United Nations’ Climate Change Conference, known as COP29, takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan. The overriding objective is money at a time when the rich world is grappling with inflation, constrained budgets, rising populism, as well as two major conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The summit comes also days after the re-election of Donald Trump as US President and his presence will loom over negotiators, even though he won’t be at the UN conference in person.
