Couple of corrections, the pyramid you used to symbolize the Aztecs looks more like a Mayan designed pyramid. The round stone you used to symbolize the Mayans is actually the Aztec Calendar.

Mexican here. Thumbs up!

However the "Mayan" calendar it is in fact an Aztec artifact. It should be perfect swapping the Aztec pyramid on the video.

Good job

The first flag to use green, white, red was the Cispadane Republic in 1797 in northern Italy and Mexico adopt the first tricolor in 1811 with the Siera Flag. Also in 1822 before crowning the Emperor Iturbide, a general showed a design for the symbol of the new nation/empire. It was the three colors of Iturbide's flag in Horizontal stripes with the symbol of the Eagle crowned at the center, Iturbide noticed that the coat of arms of the Eagle was pretty small due the horizontal stripes so he decided just to change to vertical stripes to make a bigger Eagle in the symbol and it supposed just to be for the crowning ceremony but the design reminded even after the fall of the empire. The original flag was kind of Hungarian flag but with an Eagle. By dates even if Italy had the first tricolor flag they didn't reach it as national symbol until Risorgimento in 1861 and Mexico adopt it in 1822.
The siera flag, the first mexican flag to use tricolor was made in Zongolica in Veracruz State. The Green, white and red are based in the colors of a bird that lives only in that región "Cuautototl" and the name Siera is beacuse the coat of the flag had an inscription "Siera" similar to spanish Word "sierra" meaning "mountains" referring to geographic location of Zongolica town.
Also exist the Fatherland Batallion flag of 1817, this flag is pretty similar to actual flag but the coat of arms is a Little bit different, the Eagle is surrounded by other small flags and by cannons, drums and rifles. Also th Eagle is crowned by a phrygian cap symbol of Liberty.

Just some trivia: The two Virgin Mary images or flags were meant to represent opposite ideals of the time. The first one (from Cortes) was the Virgen de los Remedios, with a cult following comprising spanish families and the military, whilst the second one, the Virgen de Guadalupe, had the most following from the natives and so-called mestizos, and her cult is still alive and strong to this day. Both virgins rivaled each other even before the Independence movement, and that's why the Guadalupana was the image that helped unite the about-to-be nation of Mexico against Spain.

You’re the only person that knows the period known as the Second Mexican Empire was Republicans vs Monarchists, not French vs Mexican. Great job! (Also it was 1863-1867)

I just want to point out something: Spain didn't have colonies, like GB. Spain had viceroyalties, it's different.

Thank you for using the Viva Mexico march! I am happily surprised that someone took the time to use real instrumental Mexican music.

A very good video, only three things.
- In 0:44 although aztec is "technically correct", the preferred term is Mexica (actually one of the origins of my country's name). Also you mentioned the Mayans but you put a Mexica symbol. And please, they were not tribes, they were civilizations. Calling them tribes would be like calling romans or greeks tribes.
- The difference between the Virgin Mary and the Virgen de Guadalupe (at 2:58) is that the Virgin Mary is a more pan-christian symbol, while the Virgen de Guadalupe is supposed to be only for mexican-born and native amerindian populations, hence why it was used.
- In 6:23 you mentioned the legend of the Eagle, which was a symbol of Huitzilopochtli, the god of war
