Unprecedented gamma-ray burst explained by long-lived jet
Показать описание
Previously, only supernovae were thought to cause long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). However, a 2021 observation suggested compact-object mergers could also create GRBs. A new simulation confirms this by demonstrating that a massive accretion disk around a black hole formed from a merger can produce a long GRB-like jet lasting several seconds.
