How Big Is Google 2023

Google was founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page, 2 Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California, in 1998. Now, it is the number one search engine online, so much so that, google and the internet are considered synonymous and used interchangeably. So, in this video, we’ll be looking at just how big Google is.

‘Google’ is a play on the word ‘Googol’, which is the improbably-large number 1 followed by 100 zeros.
So, Google seemed a perfect name for the vast amount of data they wanted their new search engine to process.

Overall, Google has 90% of the search engine market on the desktop, according to StatCounter.

#1. YOUTUBE.
The world’s largest online video service. The YouTube website alone has 500 million visitors per month. Also, most of the embedded videos on blogs are YouTube videos.

#2. BLOGGER.
Blogger is one of the world’s largest blogging platforms. Its blogs collectively had more than 400 million readers in 2010.

#3. ORKUT.
Orkut was Google’s first venture into social networks, and still, it's most successful. It has more than 100 million active users worldwide. If you count daily visitors to the website, Orkut is second only to Facebook (although a far second), mostly thanks to Orkut’s very active user base in Brazil and India.

#4. GOOGLE MAPS.
Other than being the most widely used map service on the Web, and incorporated with a ton of different web services, it’s also the dominating map service used on smartphones. Apple uses Google Maps for iOS, and Android is heavily integrated with Google’s products in general, including maps.

#5. GMAIL.
Google’s email service is estimated to have around 200 million users.

#6. GOOGLE APPS.
Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Calendar, and the other web apps under the Google Apps are increasingly popular and significant.

#7. ANDROID.
Google’s Android OS is the world’s fastest-growing smartphone platform with 350,000 new devices activated per day (and over 10 million per month). Android very much acts as a platform for Google’s other properties, like maps, email, search, etc. to function.

#8. CHROME.
Google’s web browser is gaining market share rapidly despite having been available just a few years. According to StatCounter, it currently has 17% of the web browser market.
Other than the products and services we have mentioned, there are others we will like to add to the list:
