That's correct. When employees' salaries increase, business owners tend to increase the prices of the products they sell. Politicians aren't affected because their income is fixed, but business owners are affected. There are too many permits here in the Philippines, starting from barangay permits, mayor's permits, SSS, PhilHealth registration, BIR certificates of registration, DOLE certificates, and a lot of taxes. The advantage for politicians is that they can increase their popularity by supporting salary increases for workers. But what about those without jobs? If business owners increase their product prices due to higher employee salaries, the poor will suffer even more. Everything should be balanced – the income of business owners, salary increases, and unemployment should all be considered. When a business closes because it incurred losses due to high salaries and taxes, workers also lose their jobs. This leads to an increase in joblessness and poverty in the Philippines.
