How many young men spend time this type of time with their grandparents? What a lovely soul Arthur has.

You know, Arthur, I couldn't agree more when you mentioned that nobody at school helped you learn about the importance of looking after a garden or bees... As a school teacher and a person who loves all things about plants, trees, flowers, I also think our education system (Portugal here!) is failing there too.
Hopefully your message will be heard and who knows, things may start changing. Thanks for your absolutely incredible work!

I have been following Arthur for some time now. He is a treasure. Knowledgeable, articulate, charming, his love of plants and chickens is something I share. He is an artist, too. I wish him all the best in the busy world of gardeners in the UK. Maybe we will see him at Chelsea one day.

Lovely young man...I understand the shock and sadness of losing the cherry tree...I spent 21 years developing 5 1/2 acres of stunning gardens and after I sold the home I just couldn't go back to see someone hack away all the love...I love that you work with nature and let it go it's way. Beautiful!

Oh my heart melts to see Arthur and his Grandma. 🥰Of all the things he gives to her ... time is probably the most precious and the gardening and fish and chips are a bonus. Xx

What a wise young man to already understand what is so important - to love nature and give to others. Well done parents.

Well said Arthur..I am a biodynamic market gardener in Spain. There is far more emphasis here on teaching children about nature, how to plant, what is a plant. children know the names of plants here. It's not complete by any standards, but I am British and I know what school is there so I know this is better. This is, or was, prime agricultural land so I guess it's a hangover rather than a conscious choice to teach actual life instead of ever moving concepts and constantly shifting science.
Much of what I was taught is obsolete now. Plants and nature remain however.
We do have the plant blind here, they are omnipresent after all.
A recent house move saw two stunning bottle brush trees chopped..the excuse was the stamen where being knocked off by bees and they might have blown in the pool. I lived there for 5 years, the bottle brush debris never made its way in to the pool. The house is now AirBnB and I know in that sense they would have been a powerful asset.
So sad. Many people have no idea how they are connected to the plants. How the biology of soil systems underpin out own existence
You are at a.wonderful stage..you are aware far younger than I was before I switched to a more valuable relationship with nature.
When I was a kid computers where news and exciting so I wasted much of my time in this industry before my constant lifelong hobby growing of plants became unstoppable and I moved to Spain where land was more affordable.
Someone told me the other day
If 1 in 3 of us kept chickens, there would be no industrial chickens needed

Arthur alluded to a profound problem in our education system. Time is not taken to nurture young people's minds, so that they love and develop a passion for what they're learning. This young man, hungry for more, found a way to develop his own passion where his education left a void. That's a powerful lesson in and of itself. Young people like Arthur give me hope for our world.

Very intelligent young man. I love taking my grandson out to the garden and having him help me with flowers. On delivery day he gets a treat of his choice. I have ordered Arthur's book can't wait to get it x

I totally loved this! I love how Arthur brings Granny fish and chips, the link to his ancestors and how he sees nature linked in with that, preceededing us and a legacy of what we leave behind. Beautiful

Arthur is an amazing human being for taking care of his Nan and Sheila. He is also very interested in plants and keeping insects alive that are helpful to our eating in terms of pollinating the crops.
