Günther Oettinger has probably the strongest German accent I can imagine and he made me as a German cringe so badly 😱🙈

The average German person has tears of laughter when listening to Oettingers English, but Mert doesn't bat an eyelid :D

You need to know that Angela Merkel was raised in East Germany, so she didnt learn english at school. And we always make jokes about Günther Oettinger for his bad english haha.

To me, as a German, Matthias Schweighöfer and Daniel Brühl sound like „typical younger germans, who had to learn English for 6-8 years“. I sound a lot like that as well. German English teachers try to teach RP and no „regional accents“. Combine that with international media and you get a very interesting accent for Germans, who like the English language.
And Germans older the fifty often forgot most of the English they learned in school (if they grew up in western Germany, unlike Angela Merkel, who learned Russian instead of English).

Daniel Brühl is an absolute exception, he is simply a linguistic genius. In addition to German, he also speaks Spanish, English, French, Catalan and Italian, some of them fluently. For the role of Niki Lauda in "Rush" he adopted the Austrian inflection so perfectly that even Niki Lauda himself applauded.

Daniel Brühl is a special one. He's probably the most international german actor, that also plays in spanish and english movies. He has bilingual parents and was raised multilingual, as I know.

Oliver Kahn is full of surprises, given his reputation on the field. Never would have thought his English was this great. I'd say he is easier to understand than when he speaks German :D

For me as a German who had 12 years of english class in school, I find it more pleasant if someone actually is well spoken and has a good choice of words and grammar than talking without an accent.
With Günther Oettinger you probably have one of the most stereotypical german accents but he is indeed very fluent and his sentences and words are more complex than for example Thomas Müllers english.
Also you see a very strong difference in age. The older the speakers are, the more insecure and "german sounding" they normally are.

I always have the impression that Oettinger doesn't SPEAK English but is always FIGHTING it. None of both come out of their battles unscathed, but, at least, he bravely faces his biggest enemy! Like, imagine you have to fight an immortal dragon and while you didn't win and are bleeding from all kinds of wounds, the dragon isn't in a much better condition!

Gronkh is the biggest German gaming YTer with almost 5 million followers (about 5% of all German native speakers in Europe) on his main YT-channel alone, and 1.6 million followers on twitch. Sarazar was his business partner and friend and he himself is a Let's Player (1.9 million on YT). When the video was made (about 6 years ago) Kelly missesvlog has a big YT-channel (2 million followers).
Gronkh and Sarazar were the German voices of two trolls in The Witcher 3.
Gronkh has done some prominent voice acting in games like "The Town of Light", "The Evil Within 2", " The Pillars of The Earth", "Chaos on Deponia", "Goodbye Deponia", "Harvey's New Eyes", The Night of The Rabbit", "1954 Alcatraz", "Watch Dogs: Legion", Cyberpunk 2077", "Elex 2" as well as movies like "Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter". "Alien Covenant", "The Batman LEGO movie" (as Joker), "Monster Hunter", and "Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves".

Seb is actually a huge fan of British pop culture in general. I believe he particularly loves British humor and comedy (e.g. Monty Python), and the British accents in general, so it kinda makes sense that he is able to imitate some of them.

You should definitely check out everything about Stefan Raab. He is/was (retired in 2015) one of the biggest TV-Entertainers of Germany and he had a late night talk show called "Tv Total". He had very famous national and international celebrities on his show. In my opinion his interviews with some famous musicians were fun to watch, because he often had a little jam session with them and made them sing or talk in German. The most famous interview would probably the one with Eminem.
Stefan Raab himself is a talented musician and even participated in the Eurovision Song Contest multiple times as an act, a producer/songwriter and mentor for Lena (won the ESC in 2010), who Stefan Raab has discovered on a singing competition show of his and who is now one of Germanys biggest pop music artists.
I could go on and on...this man is a TV LEGEND!

Günther Oettinger also has a strong accent in German. This is how English would sound if it were spoken in Baden-Württemberg.

I am an Englishman living in Austria and it is very easy to tell which part of Germany someone is from when they speak German, but impossible when they speak English. I can however tell the difference between English and American when they speak German.

as one says here in germany, if one asks a footballer a question, one should not be surprised of becoming a witness to an answering attempt... entire folios, no, libraries, have been filled with the vocal erruptions of the questioned like, "we can't concede more goals than the opponent scores" - Friedhelm Funkel, "We shouldn't stick the sand in our heads now." - Lukas Podolski or the legendary "Milan or Madrid, as long as it's Italy." - Andreas Möller, especially with important topics, one does not want to ask certain Footballers or one ends up with answers like "I never saw any slave labourers, they are all running around freely here." - Franz Beckenbauer in Qatar...

11:40 she's probably referring to some languages like german being more effective in training pets. Pets tend to understand languages like german better because the sounds are very clear and distinctive and the commands are very short. German isn't the only language like that though.
