Royal Mint launch the remastered UNA and the LION today! The first in a new engravers collection

Royal Mint are releasing a 2oz gold coin, 2oz silver coin and a 1kg gold coin today to celebrate the genius of William Wyon the engraver. The coins are a remastered version of Una and the Lion from the original dies and start at £180.

Back in 1964, I held the original Una and the Lion in my hand during a special visit to the British Museum. It's unfortunate that they are unable to have Victoria's effigy on the obverse as they do with many Canadian commemorative coins that have used Edward VII, George V and George VI. Nevertheless, it is a truly stunning coin, which will continue to be highly sought after.

Amazing a Silver Eagle with a Mintage of 30, 000 is Sold retail $65. Now on Ebay $2000. CRAZY!!! Uma, 2oz Silver has a mintage of 2, 980, much Nicer Coin. Happy to receive it. Got the Email last night. The kilo would be Nice. Wouldnt it?

I ordered a silver one. Lovely coin, good ending for 2019, which has been a good year for the Royal Mint along with Victoria's 200th anniversary. As far as this coin is concerned, it looks great but still does not attain the greatness of Wyon's original! I had a look at the side-by-side comparison on the RM website and the original is definitely still better.

Question: The Royal Mint website says "Limited Edition = 3000"  but it also says "a Limited Edition Presentation of 2, 980 coins". What is the difference?

Thanks for showing. Missed out but it really underlines the difference in coin designs when the mint was solely concentrated on making coins of the realm and imagery was important in displaying the power and wealth of a nation.

fantasy coins right there...even us poor coin collectors would be hard pushed to even get our peasant hnds on the £180 silver una, these will all be gobbled up by the super rich elites and stored away in their vaults....that, or the dealers will wade in and swallow the lot... great to see though, what a beautiful piece of english handcrafting. awesome

William Wyon took the idea from Edmund Spencer's 1590 poem, The Fairie Queene.Victoria is to Una as the Lion is to England. As far as gimmicky coins, every Mint is doing it

its a shame they are not doing this coin in smaller denominations a lovely coin, there were some una mohur coins that went on the coin cabinet auction yesterday they were very pricey aswell, great video numi get some mega unboxing results out please lol...
