Becoming W2 would be a disaster for drivers.
Lyft, Uber, etc would never let you have more than 40 hrs a week and they would probably make you schedule your time like DoorDash. you would be capped at 40 hrs times the minimum wage. thats $640 a week in California BEFORE TAXES. THEY WOULD HAVE ALL THE CONTROL and layoff anyone as needed to meet their costs. NO MORE GRINDING for higher amounts of money. Companies dont have to give you overtime and most avoid it. you want unemployment? that only pays a max of 450 a week in California. You want benefits? they will charge you a high premium that negates a good chunk of your minimum wage week. THINK IT THROUGH. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE W2. they will immediately cut tons of drivers due to the saturation. Once they have the max amount of 40 hr drivers they will probably let some part
time 20 hr/week drivers in. $20 x $16 = $320.
