#23 Circumlocution Tic-tac-toe (instructions below)
Hey Youtube! We are Guys With Games ESL/EAL Activities.

We share new games every week for you to use in the ESL classroom. Our focus is teaching English in a fun way and sharing games that deliberately make English the main entree, not just a side dish.

Want to share your own game? Check out our guidelines at the bottom of this description.

Today’s Game:
In today’s video, Dustin (Canada) teaches us how to play a fun and engaging game for your ESL Students using only your board and your imagination.

Name of the game:
Circumlocution Tic-Tac-Toe
From the book "Creative Output" by Hall Houston

Materials:
Blackboard/Whiteboard

Ideal class size:
- 6-20 Students (adjust accordingly)

Instructions:
Write down nine words that are appropriate for your class level on the board in a tic-tac-toe structure on the board, one per box. The idea is to have your kids describe each of these words in as much detail as possible. Once they've described three words that can be crossed out to complete tic-tac-toe, that team wins! Play as many rounds as you see fit. Try to elicit more details from your students the way Dustin does with his "student" in this example!

See a demonstration of the game at minute 0:45

Guidelines for submitting games:
Please submit only games that are English-focused. Games that don’t have an English element beyond just using English to explain the rules won’t be considered.

What if you have 30 students in the class? I assume this game requires only two students. What are the rest of the class doing while these two students are playing?
