Two Updates on the Accord Hybrid:
1 - Battery guage is always up on the far left of the MID. I dismissed it as engine temp for a week, then realized it’s the hybrid battery guage haha.
2 - I didn’t have to run the AC this morning. The engine didn’t have run as much and the car would coast in EV up to around 50 MPH. As a result I saw 52+ MPG

I owned a 2020 Accord LX. I then test drove a 2024 Accord EX-L Hybrid. My reaction was wow, it was smoother, quieter, and even more fuel efficient. The resale value on my 2020 Accord LX was awesome, and this thing was even better. I ended up getting a 2024 Pilot, because I wanted an SUV more than I wanted to make the smartest choice, but the Accord Hybrids are a very, very smart choice for your wallet. When I see my mpg's on the Pilot, I miss the heck out of my Accord that got 38 mpg highway at 80 mph, but there was some upcoming need for an SUV in my life, so I went with it. For $33k on the EX-L Hybrid, you are getting a LOT of car for the money.

We had a Camry as a rental for a week and liked it a lot, high 40's mileage around Portland and even up and down Mt Hood. Then test drove an Accord Touring and liked it better for comfort and interior materials, build quality and stereo (was not a JBL in the Camry and was Bose in Accord). Not enough time to do a mileage test. Then test drove the Civic hybrid hatch Sport Touring and ended up getting it. Road noise is more than Accord but acceleration, sporty dynamics, mpg, and utility of the hatch won out. Also the Civic feels like you sit higher in the vehicle, and you look out over the dash. The Accord you feel like you're down in the vehicle, looking at the dash. The lower cost of the Civic was another benefit. Honestly I am finding the Civic seat bottoms a little on the hard side, but overall happy with the choice. Suburban driving is bouncing around 50 mpg in Ohio temperatures so that is living up to my expectations.

The reason the engine is on more frequently is because you are continually driving in Sport mode. In both Econ and Normal, the engine will run much less. I drive in Econ 100 of the time and have no trouble accelerating and average slightly above 50mpg with the 23 Touring. Also, the battery charge is always on the far left. You can game the hybrid system when in the other modes as you can pulse and glide and other ways to maximize your time in EV mode. I'm in Tampa and consistently achieve the 50 mpg with AC running in Econ mode.

My dad just got a ‘25 Accord Hybrid Touring. He loves it! I’ve driven it a few times and I am very impressed with it. It really is a nice car, despite its not so beautiful front end.

Ventilated Seat button is heavenly. Even in the winter wearing thick jackets the ventilation would be nice.

Yeah you touched on my biggest issue with the newer Accords, which is how they split the trims up.

I really think the accord would benefit from a cheaper, more base-level hybrid that focuses a bit more on fuel economy and/comfort. Also AWD.

Delegating the hybrids exclusively to their top trims with the bigger wheels and everything just isn’t all that appealing with the competition offering better packages for the same or less money.

Aside from that though it does really seem like a great car. I’m keeping my eye out for quieter, smoother sedans with better MPG than my current rough & noisy old ass Accord. I’ve been cross shopping used Avalons, ES, Camry, Accord etc and this new a accord is definitely a contender

This Accord platform is a lot more appealing to me vs the Toyota hybrids. Like you said, refinement has value for some people over pure efficiency. I plan to upgrade from my 2015 Crosstour in a few years and in a dream world, they'd build a new Crosstour based on the current Accord, add the rear axle motor for AWD, and maybe bump power output slightly. Then they'd have a clear competitor to the Crown Signia. I just can't see myself dealing with the obnoxiously loud 4th gen Toyota hybrid system for a decade...

I think if you’re patient you’ll find great discounts. Everybody is buying the crv and civic. Crv’s are flying off the lots here in Canada.

Not having a spare is a little concerning. If your tire blows out and you can’t fix the tire with the inflation kit you’re stranded if you in the middle of nowhere.

He meant you did not really brake torque it . After you release brakes engine keeps 100% without fake shifting that's adds time to acceleration. I have a 2023 touring hybrid and gets bellow 7s is very easy with Ac on.
Thank you for the review and I endorsed every word you said about the smoothness of this power train

Have had Honda, now a TLX and RDX Acuras. As you mentioned, would like to see Acura implement a hybrid too. Thanks for the detailed video Kirk.

I do agree with you that the Accord is far more refined. I just wish they’d fix some grill issues, provide more power, change up the interior a little, etc. The CRV could use a major refresh to offer more for the price as well.

The complaint about a second delay is similar to the same delay that popular 4-cylinder turbos that Honda/Acura have. I have an Acura and always have to anticipate that turbo lag when I need to step on it.

13:49 This is the important part that seperates Honda from Toyota. To where it really is a matter of what one prefers. Honda uses clutch packs but Toyota has a direct linkage (i.e MG1+MG2). Toyota is more responsive but it's jerkier. Honda may not feel as powerful but is definitely smoother.
