When I hear the ‘E’ word I think of a suckling pig and expensive wine. However, you’ve thrown this concept into a new light. Thank you for caring enough to make these YouTube’s. We love them.

Gentle Pastor, I once heard a definition of boredom as being " a lack of entertainment." Thank you for all you do!

Anyone else hoping he's either writing on this now or has a book planned for the (hopefully near) future?

Actually, Epicurus did argue that the gods didn't intervene, and that there was no afterlife. Firstly, he said that the gods as the Greeks conceived them were higher beings that weren't troubled. Gods for Epicurus were ethical ideals, and he believed they existed but didn't intervene with human affairs at all. Secondly, Epicurus believed the mind and soul were composed of corporeal organs and therefore would cease to exist upon death.
Therefore, Epicurus derived morality and philosophy from inductive reality as it is generally observed by all and built his morality and philosophy from the "ground up" (beginning with a temporally utilitarian consideration of suffering and pleasure, the axiomatic and material "good" and "evil").
Interestingly, Marx did his doctoral dissertation on Epicurus.

Some Plato references that have to do with the transcendentals:

Plato’s Form if Good is found in many works but is systematically defined in “The Republic” (507b-508e). Plato’s Form of Beauty is defined in “Symposium” (201a-201c ) and it’s value is found in “Hippias Major” (286a-287d). Plato’s value of truth also is found amongst most of his works but can be easily seen in “Crito” (46b-47a) and the systematic definition of true can be found in “Sophist” (262e-263b).

I think you are great. You appear honest, pleasant, likable and good-natured (I looked up personable and that was the definition.) You are good at explaining things. At least I think I understand what you have explained.

But,

Yah, here it is. I'm an Atheist and have been for over 30 years. I grew up going to a ALC Lutheran church that I got confirmed in the 1970's. Quit going to church and about the same time I studied Philosophy and changed my thinking on Religion. I've read probably 500 books on the subject; History, Philosophy, almost all the author's giving either the somewhat non contested, non biased history or mostly on why Christianity is not true.

I'm a book Atheist and I only watch some video Atheist video's to see what they are saying and critique how good they are. I don't think most Atheist videos are very good, way to much drama, not enough information giving lectures. But drama is what helps sell people's point of view by being entertaining.

I have a connection to Martin Luther, his mother's maiden name is the same as my last name, Lindeman. I haven't been able to cash in on that yet though.

You might have a video on Martin Luther King Sr. and Martin Luther King Jr. and how they changed their names. Apparently Martin Luther King Sr., using his original name, was traveling with a group of pastors through Germany in 1935 and was so impressed with the story of Martin Luther that he changed his name and his 5 year old sons names to Martin Luther King.

Good luck to you.

You were looking for some books on Epicurus and Epicurean Philosophy, I have two books and one video suggestion.

Book Nature's God; The Heretical Origins of the American Republic.
Matthew Stewart

From book flap. Derided as "Infidels" and "Atheists" in their own time, the radicals who founded America set their sights on a revolution of the mind. Not only the erudite Thomas Jefferson, the wily and elusive Ben Franklin, and the underappreciated Thomas Paine, but also Ethan Allen, the hero of the Green Mountain Boys, and Thomas Young, the forgotten founder who kicked off the Boston Tea Party-they all wanted to liberate us not just from one king but from the tyranny of super natural religion.

YouTube Video, with the same title and author.

Book Sworn on the Altar of God,
A Religious Biography of Thomas Jefferson,
Edwin S. Gaustad,

From the Declaration of Independence of the United States,

The words 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness' is a phrase taken from Epicurean Philosophy. Thomas Jefferson was claimed to have said or wrote (I forgot which) 'I am an Epicurean.'

The words 'Laws of Nature and of Nature's God', that is found in the D of I, if properly understood, is the best argument against Christianity not being true (my commentary.)
