The swedish arms industry is by no means a newly hatched thing. They stayed on the outside of NATO for the entirety of the cold war. They needed to be able to defend themselves well enough that it would not be worth the effort to attempt. Even before then, Sweden was actually a major military power in Europe before opting for neutrality in the early 1800s

Sweden is supplying the Russian military with hundreds of prints of Ingmar Bergman films to further depress morale.

We, Ukrainians, are so grateful to Sweden! First of all, for your human sense of compassion through an action and recognising the real need for Ukraine to defend the country and people! 🙏🏻

Leading from the front by example. Not 'kissing the ring' of Vladimir Putin. Sweden is to be praised for giving their best to Ukraine in a completely genuine fashion. The very newest NATO member is showing the rest of them exactly how support should be given. Without condition, without hesitation. God Bless Sweden and its citizens!

Sweden was about to send the SAAB Gripen to Ukraine and when Sweden said they were allowed to use it however they wanted, the US stopped it. The Gripen is by far the best combat aircraft for Ukraine, because it is built for exactly these conditions Ukraine has. Russia's threat has no substance. USA should be ashamed.

Not mentioned: The excellent jet fighter made by Saab. Swedes are fine folks who will tangibly help a friend in dire need.

Calling Sweden neutral has always been a bit of a misnomer. For the last 200 years, right up until we joined NATO, Sweden has been neutral, sure - but more specifically we have been practicing armed neutrality. This means that you don't get yourself involved with alliances or conflicts, but it does not mean being militarily weak. Quite the opposite - it means building up a metric sh*tton of munitions, pointing them in every direction and telling everyone else to stay away. It's a posture very similar to what Switzerland has held for the last several centuries.

The Swedish arms industry is not new. It's a consequence of neutrality. You need to be armed to the teeth to be neutral and independent. Look at Switzerland. The Swiss are one of the most heavily armed nations in the world. In World War Two, they shot down both Allied and German aircraft that invaded their airspace.

Swede here. I'd argue that even if the war in Ukraine has had a large input on Sweden choosing to abandon it's neutrality. An also large portion is probably that Finland spearheaded joining NATO as well. Sweden throughout the cold war was defacto a member of NATO, guns always pointed east while cooperating towards the west. After ww2 Sweden spearheaded but failed to realize a Nordic defense union, which fell apart when Denmark and Norway joined NATO. A fear from the Swedish side was that if we join NATO maybe Finland will be forced to join the Comintern.

Thank you. It's a good thing some channels are remembering Sweden and other nations of that area.
Sometimes it feels like it's mainly USA, China, Russia, and maybe the EU are involved. But Channels like this help show the wider picture of things.

Sweden is a great country. I spent 3 weeks there when I was 17, visiting an exchange student who lived with my family for a school year. While I was there I got to party with some Swedish special forces guys. I wouldn't want to fight them. And I don't think Russia will attack them, certainly not by land or sea. Remember that Norway and Finland are friends with Sweden and not with Russia. Finland is in between and they've been prepping for war against Russia for decades.
Considering that Russia can't beat Ukraine I don't believe they'd open another front. The Scandinavians and others wouldn't be gentle.

Russia wouldn't be able to invade Sweden without crossing those brute Finnish people, and we all know how that ended last time. And even if they were to invade by land it would be easy for sweden to defend the north. The sea route are totaly shut. Swedens submarines would demolish the russian fleet in the baltic sea.
