Curitiba is a Brazilian municipality, capital of the state of Paraná, located 934 meters above sea level in the First Planalto Paranaense, more than 110 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, distant 1,386 km south of Brasília, the federal capital. Since then, the city, known for its wide streets, has maintained a pace of urban growth strengthened by the arrival of a large number of European immigrants throughout the 19th century, mostly Germans, Poles, Ukrainians and Italians, who contributed to the current cultural diversity.
