I just installed my 18k today, it didn't have the holes either. I took a small drill bit from underneath with everything lined up, then drilled from the top with the correct size. Worked perfect!

Just installed a V2. After punching out all the holes I used two blanks (with rubber gasket removed) on passthroughs that will not be used to link them together. Works like a charm.

Should be using a nipple when passing wires from conduit box to 18K. This will secure the 18K to the conduit box and bring you to code.

What I'm beginning to notice is that EG4 is not content to stay with a model long. They are changing and offering different and new models almost more frequent than auto manufactures. This is disturbing to me.

Shouldn't you be using a chase nipple between the inverter and conduit box anyway? That would lock them together quite effectively.

It's done that way on purpose. They did that for qualifications for being hanging outside your building and not just inside. It's for weathering so when it rains from the outside there's no small holes. Like the other ones you were showing it still has small holes at the bottom because the way they were drilled out of those punch outs

Thanks for the video! Looks like relatively minor changes. Too bad they removed those mounting holes. Would have been nice at least if they put dimples for easy drilling in the right location though if they want it all sealed. Its small but I want that torque/sizing sticker on mine, looks very helpful.

Not sure if you have another video covering this but I’m really curious, what are your load requirements for all that equipment? That’s a ton of capacity and output power you have there!

Do they document that the new unit can still be connected in a group with the older units? Too often I've seen these import inverters (and even Trace/Siemens back in the day) make incompatible and invisible inner changes with such revisions.

Other than that, no desire has changed? Just the holes? Not different software etc? If the holes are the only difference, it doesn’t bother me too much. 😊

Watt were they thinking???
A little VHB tape take right care of that...

A mistake that you made was purchasing a low cost, Chinese made high frequency, transformerless inverter charger. All of these inferior high frequency inverters from any manufacturer, uses a low cost, low surge, short lived high frequency, transformerless inverter design that can be unsafe when powering household appliances or when charging an EV because they both lack an output transformer that provides galvanic isolation between their DC boost stage and their AC output. You're far better off investing in a much safer, higher performance low frequency, transformer based inverter charger.
