SNS 352: Generator Rack Repairs

preview_player
Показать описание
The RV generator rack/shelf I installed last year developed a crack that was caused by a hole I added in it for a cable. This video shows the repairs I made to beef it up and make it road worthy again. I use this "trailer tray" for my Honda generator and extra fuel can on our Kodiak travel trailer. It keeps the generator nicely mounted and convenieant . I have been making some minor repairs like this to our RV in preparation for our annual big haul trip.

An old adage from the cycling world - you don't have to make it thiefproof, just more difficult to steal than the one next to it.

Adam in a word is "thorough". Whether it's filming, machining or anything else. Doesn't miss a beat. I appreciate all the effort that goes into these videos.

I always enjoy your channel, and the videos you put out. I have the Honda EU2000i and I just installed a separate kill switch so you can shut off the gas and run the carb empty. Hutch Mountain Bad Gas Ethanol Gummed Carb Eliminator Switch - Compatible with Honda Eu2000i Generator. Also if you go to your local General Aviation airport and buy 100 Low Lead fuel, you can leave it in your generator just about forever and it doesn't go bad. I managed 4 small airports in CA, and sold a lot of this fuel to local folks to put in their equipment that didn't get operated frequently.

Had to smile when Adam made the comment about locks and thieves. My Dad used to say that locks only keep out honest men. But, it pays to make the rotten thieves earn their keep.

You cannot beat a Honda Generator, Small Engine or Snowblower. They just start every time you need them. Well done on the rack repairs and modifications! Don't forget the fuel stabilizer! Enjoy Camping!

I love watching you do these little things. It's like what I would do myself to my things with 1/42th the skill and 1/30th the tooling. :D

When the quality of the repair is greater than the quality of the original build.

That crane is a great idea! First time I ever threw my back out was lifting that same exact generator into the back of my f250 by myself when breaking camp to head home. Home was 1, 000 miles away. Didn’t feel that I hurt my back when it happened, but I couldn’t stand straight up when I got out of my truck at the first fuel stop. I felt a lot of pain the next day and it was that way for a while. I was a couple years older than you when it happened. And I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

It is always nice when you can make something better. Happy for you that you found a property that you have been looking for.

Awesome shot of the welding so mysterious and cool the smoke came up through the drain holes

I rode out the February Freeze 36 hour power outage in my TT. Had plenty of propane and diesel to stay warm. 10 gallons of diesel burned keeping the generator spinning..shared the electricity with the neighbors.
It was so cold the back door froze shut. 9 °F. No issues with onboard water supply as I was able to stay above 60°F inside. Enough battery capacity for overnight furnace operation without the generator running.

The Honda 3000is is an incredible machine. Have owned one for over 20 years with no issues.

We really like our Generac Guardian generator with the automatic transfer switch. It runs the whole house and workshop/garage.

My wife bought me the hitch crane from Sportsmans Guide. It will lift up to (rated at) 300lbs deer from the ground to the truck and swivel 360 degrees. It has saved my back over the years.

You are a well thought out man. In the shop, or on the road, very well prepared in any situation.

Great upgrades on your gen mount. The only thing id do above it is add some nuts between the hold down brackets and the gen mount. Leave them loose, tighten down the hold down brackets, then tighten the middle nut that was added down to the hold down, sandwiching the mount. Kind of hard to explain but i think youll understand. Have a great day!

As for the cover, id stick the new one on top of that one. That one will protect the new one and make it last longer
