2024 GUIDE: RECOVER YOUR HACKED INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

Hi all! In this video I’ve compiled the top 3 ways to successfully recover a hacked Instagram account in 2024. A lot of you were requesting an updated, 2024 guide, so here it is!

🔺 ATTORNEY GENERAL METHOD:
Here’s an example letter to send to the Attorney General. Make sure to personalize this by filling in relevant information in the “XX”s and italics. Also, add any additional information to help your case:

Hello, my name is XX (your name). I am writing a consumer complaint against Instagram. On XX (date), my Instagram profile was hacked after my email address was compromised through a phishing attempt / XX (insert situation here)

Once the hacker logged into my Instagram account; they changed my account's password, email address, authentication and security settings; and subsequently I'm no longer to able to access my account.

I have gone through all of the methods for account recovery offered by Instagram; which according to the platform's automated system, were not enough for the company to return my account. Instagram doesn’t offer customer support through phone number, emails or chat applications.
Right now, I am very concerned because a hacker, who I don't know, is in control of my account. They have access to my friends list and contacts, have the ability to post as and impersonate me and potentially even spread additional malware or illicit material to others. This has become a huge violation of my privacy. This issue has caused XX (insert personal ramifications here).

The resolution I am seeking is to have my account recovered and returned to me.

Attached to this letter, I have attached a timeline of the compromise to the best of my knowledge, as well as the old email address associated with my hacked Facebook account. I’m able to provide photo ID and any additional information or documents required to verify my identity.

🔺PEOPLE CLERK METHOD:

One thing I forgot to note in this video, is that People Clerk actually allows you to walk through a step-by-step process where it will create a letter template for you. I would highly recommend this. However, please remember that a demand letter is a letter that outlines a set of requests you want Instagram to perform.

👉 Important things to note for the step by step guide:

-Always select that you are looking for compensation (even though we really just want our accounts back).

-Select “Nuisance” for the reason why the other party owes you money.

- For Money $ - I would put in $10,000. This is based upon an example that People Clerk provides on their website: “A San Mateo small claims lawsuit was filed against Facebook for disabling the plaintiff's personal and business accounts." The lawsuit sued Facebook for $10,000 and won.

- For reasoning, write something along the lines of “My Instagram was hacked on XX, and I have not been able to recover through your online recovery processes."

- Add Key Events, including when you were hacked, when you submitted selfie verification videos, when you reached out to Instagram for help, etc.

- Select that you, the sender, are a “Person” and then type in your information.

- Select that the recipient is a business .

- For address, type in the legal office of Meta:

- I would keep the default 14 days for Instagram to respond and select either option for payment method.

- Include your email for Instagram to contact you.

- Select for People Clerk to Print, Send and Track for you.

Submit this letter and let the People Clerk do its magic.

Does not work as they want to send an otp to mobile number on my Instagram account, but that number has changed. Please, is there any other way I can send a selfie video.

Hi Roisin, I got all the way up to the point where it asks for my email then click submit but then nothing happens after that. I didnt get an email to continue the process of verification code then video selfie.

When I do the face verification method or the friend method, instead of letting me enter my own email to have the recovery email sent to, it makes me choose from the contact info the hacker changed 😤

Wasted time.It's all bull shit...you never get that e-mail where you can take that selfie..I tried with four new e-mail accounts, I didn't get any reply. Both methods do not work.
