I love the dog's reaction, like, "Are you seeing this?"

This must have been one of the last such staged collisions at a state fair - they'd generally gone out of fashion by then. Pity to waste such nice engines.

Only in America would someone crash two trains into each other as a publicity stunt.

They really knew how to party back then!

Can you imagine what the fair's insurance company would say about this idea ?

The collision was so violent that train parts were hurled skyward and soon came raining down on spectators...they don't tell you this.

I can't remember what this specific type of locomotive was called, but I can tell by the shape of the boiler and the gap between the second and third driving wheel that they're the same type used in Back to the Future Part III to push the DeLorean time machine to 88mph. The only real difference is these were coal burning locomotives. You can tell by the straight funnel. Locomotives with funnels that resemble a bell turned upside down burn wood, with the shape intended to prevent sparks and embers from escaping and starting forest fires.

Everybody's gangsta running towards the crash until the boilers explode

Man. I wouldn’t have been too close. Two boilers exploding. Unpredictable

-Why run towards colliding trains?! They could derail and flung in the direction you’re at!! Plus, the ensuing explosion could sling shrapnel in every direction!! Very foolish for people to think that this was a show.

I mean... I understand the safety standards back then, but in those days they REALLY knew what they were doing with Steam. Thats pretty fucking dumb infront of a crowd hahahaha.

There were sometimes bad injuries or even fatalities when these "staged locomotive crashes" were attended by large crowds.
Once Diesel Electric locomotives took over, what on earth 🌎 do they do with old tech but perfectly functioning steam locomotives ?
Gsther a crowd at $1 or 50 cents a head, that's what !

I'm totally surprised they were still doing this 60+ years later after The Crash at Crush

Going out with a bang....similar to that one in the 1800's when even the photographer lost an eye due to unforeseen boiler explosions. Those engines must have been condemned...LOL. Thanks.
