Future, Faster: Unlock the Power of Web Components with Polymer (Google I/O '17)

Показать описание
It took a few years and a couple of trips around the block, but Web Components have truly arrived: they’re natively supported in Chrome and Safari today, with other browsers joining the party soon. Polymer is still the most popular way to build your own Web Components. Polymer 2.0 has been updated to the final v1 Web Components specs, getting leaner, faster and more modular along the way – and offering a seamless upgrade path from Polymer 1. In this session, you will learn how Web Components and Polymer can help you build performant, maintainable web apps that unlock the full potential of the browser. You’ll also hear about the latest advancements in the Polymer library that are bringing Polymer development closer to native than ever before, like ES6 class-based syntax and a suite of tools.

it makes sense to make the web platform more capable instead of constantly relying on things like React or Angular...as they said, you can tell that the web was designed to be a place to read documents, it's a great initiative to make it a place for apps, a platform where you can naturally and natively can build apps just like iOS or Android are like that

Polymer setup Errors: npm vs nvm node setup, Bower errors, browser errors, polymer doesn't start errors. Polymer team, would you please publish a setup guide that works?

I use Angular 2(4 now), I am so confused, can I add polymer to my Angular 2 app or do I need to pick one of them? I see polymer as a toolbox for smaller and simpler things.

And now Firefox doesn't support it anymore? Can't really use this on a serious project if Edge/Firefox and other smaller browsers don't support it yet. Hope Polymer 3 fixes this and other problems.

The browser matrix a bit misleading, there are counties where UC browser is used more frequently than the rest combined. Like India, middle eastern countries, etc. I wonder when UC browser will support web components provided that they don't even fully support es5.

Front-end is too messy. React/Preact, Angular/2/4/6, Vue.js, Polymer ...Omg. I'm switching to backend to solve real problems rather than keeping up with such developments.
