Ryan Robinson - Nile Rodgers style funky disco groove (using Fatboy Guitars pickups)

Demonstration of Fatboy Guitars UK Ltd. pickups and electronics upgrade, fitted into my 1993 MIJ Squier Stratocaster.

Guitars 1 and 3 demonstrate the 'quacky' funk tones made possible with the blend control, whilst guitar 2 showcases the typical Nile Rodgers style neck tone. Combining two parts using the blend control (as shown towards the end of the video) can give you tight rhythm tones similar to that of David Williams or Paul Jackson Jr.

Thanks for your comment. I would keep your Fender Deville as they are quite popular for this style of playing and still what I would classify as a 'small' amp. For this particular video I used my Fender Deluxe 90 DSP (solid state) as I find it good for 'ultra clean' parts but for other recordings in this style I've used my Mesa Boogie Lonestar.

This video deserves at least 10 times more then current view count shows... Great playing, wish the quality of recording is better, and i would pan rhythm guitar double channels hard left and right

Sorry Ernest, I don't know any guitar VSTs to recommend as I'd always play anything I needed recorded 'for real'. You just can't beat the sound of a real live performance

On the opening riff are you palm muting or choking up on the fret? How do you get that sound?
