I remember hearing a guy having a theory that Daisy was Doomguy’s therapy animal for being a Marine, so I when he lost his therapy pet, he just…went insane.

Fun fact about Daisy, after the old doom games, it's mentioned that murals of rabbits are made in hell to remember the fact that one rabbit is all it took to bring the slayer to hell itself.

Rabbits are seen as unholy animals and must not be harmed by any demons, less they want another slayer to come.

The first time I played the games and got jnformed about the lore learning about Daisy and doom guy's family felt awful
After that I played them again in the most aggressive and brutal way that's ever existed

Tbh, with doom guy's background in the military I like to believe that daisy was a therapy animal to help him with anger management.

A voice thought that doom guy's son wanted a pet, so doom guy went to the store and bought daisy. For his son and just like everyone's dad with the new dog doom guy and daisy became best friends.

We don’t need an explanation. Even Doom Eternal shows it. Simply put, The Slayer is an unstoppable badass force of violence.. but it doesn’t mean he can’t have his own quirky hobbies like collecting toys, reading, playing guitar, and having a pet rabbit
