Amelia shares her experience of growing up in New Zealand and the struggles of Tongan immigrant families. She shares moving from Tonga to New Zealand with her family through her father's work visa and their journey of trying to make life in New Zealand.
She shares the struggle of seeing her parents getting divorced and dropping out of school to work with her mother at the farm so they could be able to support themselves financially. She shares how life got even more difficult when her father and brother got deported back to Tonga and all the financial responsibility fell onto her mother and witnessing her mother cry at night because of the hardships of trying to survive and provide for their family all alone and as a single mother in a new country.
