As an Australian, I do love these, I was banned from eating them from birth, but the Aussie in my blood made me eat like 6 at once before they noticed. It's a primal urge. You can't escape it as a child or adult... You can never escape.

The fear in his eyes is that of someone who's been visited by the Australian spider god in their dreams

The ratio of caring to not caring sends me

That definitely looks like the idea of a bunch of ex convicts sent to an island to live forever.

As a Aussie, good job on your redemption. You may now enter Brisbane without being attacked, we enjoy your efforts. Cheers.

As an Aussie, you have redeemed yourself. Good job. I cannot speak to the opinions of other cities, but you are certainly welcome in Sydney.

i feel like the reason it tastes so good to Australians (as one) is because of the nostalgia of having fairy bread at birthday parties when you were a kid

It's the taste of childhood. That's why we're passionate about it. Don't be worried about customs letting you in, be worried about your Mullet getting you in a bar fight 😁

Well done. If you’re gonna hate it, hate the right version of it 😂

I think the reason Australians get so mad is because fairy bread is a rather nostalgic food for us. I haven't had fairy bread since childhood birthday parties, and while I admit, I would probably not choose fairy bread over most other dietary options at my age, it still has a soft spot in my heart and if offered I would take it out of nostalgia alone. It's not that fairy bread is a especially delicious, but when you're a child, it's your birthday, and you see some colourful looking triangles. You're probably gonna eat them... also it's just such a quick snack that poor mums can prepare en masse for hordes of hungry birthday party goers.

its funny seeing australians get upset defending sprinkles on bread

As an Australian, every one of those steps is neccisary. Wonder white, hundreds and thousands, not toasted, salted butter and dipped via plate to get the perfect spread. A childhood classic mate

The amount of effort to finally make the thing correctly only to consume what is edible disappointment is wild

Sugar sandwiches is what my Irish grandmother would make us, very similar to fairy/angel bread, basically just a tiny bit of smash banana, lots of butter and a good sprinkling of sugar!

Fairy bread always reminded me of one of my favorite types of pan. It's a big slice of dense cake covered in those sprinkles.
