Rapallo, Italy: The Promenade & The Castle

Rapallo is a seaside resorts located in the western part of the gulf of Tigullio, along the eastern half of the Italian Riviera (Riviera di Levante). Not far from Portofino, Rapallo makes a good base for exploring the coast. The town enchants the tourists with the beautiful landscapes, the vivid and lovely color of the buildings and the old architecture very well preserved.
The castle on the sea is a medium fortress built between 1550 and 1551 to defend the town from frequent attacks by pirates. On the Castle there is a dome with bell belonging to the small chapel inside the fort, built in 1688, dedicated to San Gaetano. Symbol of the city and a national monument, the castle is home to exhibitions and cultural events.
