The Khajiit were made from the "Forest People" which were the proto-Bosmer that didnt know their form and shape shifted constantly until Azura to some of them and made them the "fastest, most beautiful, and best climber of Nirni's children". Whereas the Lilmothiit were a nomadic seafaring people that migrated to Tamriel from Akavir in the early Merethic Era during the period when the Argonians were still in the Saxhleel culture phase of their history.
Evidence for this is that the word "Lilmothiit" is a Khajiiti word that means "one from Lilmoth" and not a Lilmothiit word(basically, they set up a trading post city named Lilmoth and the Khajiit started calling them that because its where they met them).
Further evidence is that the Lilmothiit worshipped the god Z'en(the Akaviri interpretation of Zenithar) along with the Kothringi(human natives of Blackmarsh that later introduced Z'en to the Bosmer). The Kothringi had no known interaction with Akavir but the Lilmothiit did. To me, this would suggest that the nomadic Lilmothiit introduced the localized Kothringi to Z'en as a deity.

Are you sure its an L? I've always heard it pronounced as two I's. Similar to how Khajiit is spelled.
Lilmothiit means "One from Lilmoth" in the Khajiit language of Ta'agra.
