At $145 the Teva Aventrail trail running sandals are a bit more expensive than the average running shoe. But the question is: are they worth $145? I hope to answer that in this review.

Thanks for the review. I personally would not be as soft on the review as you were.
First of all anything to do with Hoka shoes should be torched. The most important thing about a shoe is stability not rockability. The thick foamy style Hoka shoes will be sure to destroy the cartilage in your knees by the unstable soles.
Now Teva has decided to do the worst thing possible and adapt the HOKA sole to their sandal.
As far as not having enough security with the straps as mentioned, the simple solution is to cut the Velcro off and bore eyelet holes in them and put in shoe laces.
It is like the runner described here, you want a shoe that is an extension of your foot not some miserable foamy sponge material you have to run with and worry about while you are running.
The people who make Hoka and transferred their system to Teva made the Teva sandal worse not better.
At least the straps are in front to hold the toes down unlike the stupid Luna running sandal which has no toe strap resulting in the toes separating too far off the sandal and you not picking your feet up high enough to clear obstacles or stairs. Idiots.

If you could add some crazy print or argyle pattern to the socks, that would be even better! ;)
Great review!
