Taking an undisturbed soil sample for microarthropod extraction

Demonstration of how to take soil or turf sample while avoiding compression of the core. It could be done either with an auger or just by cutting out the core and remove et gently with a hand shovel. During the action compression of the soil is avoided from any angle.

I would not consider this as an undisturbed soil sample since the top, bottom and side walls of the soils are disturbed. I would consider this as a relatively undisturbed soil sample. However, this test method seems to be an excellent approach to retrieving a soil sample.
