Thanks 🐇 from 1996 till 2001 there was a brutal war of boybands, the bubblegum pop and eurodance is the breakout point that divides Generation X from millennials. And yeah they could say that New Kids on the block (a band for last Gen Xers) were the first, we are not going to deny it but the early 90s was completely dominated by other genres of music, nothing like the Y2k era. Elder millennials enjoy it as teenagers and last millennials as children, if someone cannot remember this era, it's part of Generation Z.
