You spoke about doing your due diligence to research a company. Would you make a video on what are the steps or what to look for to effectively research a company before buying a stock? Thanks for the great content you put out.

Great video! I learned the exact same lessons, lol. Sometimes you just have to learn the hard way, or maybe that's just me. I deployed all $5, 500 into my Roth last January into positions (not all that I thoroughly researched) and needles to say suffered the consequences come February. My Roth IRA still has not recovered. However, the Roth IRA I started for my husband in February ended the year in the green after serious reconsideration of my strategy, patience, and lots of research. Lesson learned. Another lesson I learned was to follow my gut when I feel like I really need to get out of a stock, even if it is at a small loss. Keep up the great content and thanks for being transparent.

My biggest mistakes in 2018 was taking profits to soon. Totally agree with you Nick on doing your own due diligence. It's your hard earned money, don't let other influences you in your own investments.

That first 1 is a big mistake that I made to. I'm raising the percent down that I buy now. Aside from Apple. Thats hard to not buy 5% down. But either way having that 20+% cash balance makes a huge difference. And that last mistake is never going to stop sadly.

Averaging in and out of positions is the way I do things almost exclusively... The problem most people have with this strategy is they won't make the incremental buys if the stock price increases. They don't want to average up. Averaging in means buying in both directions at pre-set intervals (usually months apart). Not averaging up could very well mean you're missing out on a nice run upwards in price. This is obviously just a simplified explanation, but I think it works well if you're disciplined enough to pull it off. Just my $0.02.

How much do you normally spend on each trade?

I agree 100%. The most important thing is to focus on the fundamentals of a company and not so much on the market noise.
